What I have found that has worked best for me is to ask the realtor for a referral of a good handyman, contractor, roofer etc. once you find one good worker that is vetted and verified by someone who is in the industry you can work through them for more referrals (plumbers, electrician drywall etc).You will need to make a few trips down to check on the progress and meet the workers but that is part of the fun in the journey.
