Also, the state of formation is likely where internal disputes would be brought among LLC members, so if you and a partner and/or spouse live in CA, you probably want to arbitrate in CA if the two of you had a disagreement.

Out of curiosity, how do you usually verify those metrics when you’re working with out-of-state investors — do you handle that internally or rely on local data sources?

I don’t have direct personal experience purchasing through Roofstock, so I can’t speak to their internal process, but I do specialize in property management, commercial real estate, home inspections, and out-of-state investing.

Eventually I will be looking to invest in properties around the country, with a goal of investing internationally later in my journey.
