When posting, how do I get....
I'm new here and when someone sends a reply, they use the "@John Doe" with my name of course but I haven't figured out how to do the same towards others. Can someone enlighten me?
Type the @ sign. Then, type the first letter of the persons name with no spaces after the @ sign and a menu should pop up automatically allowing you to select the person you want to mention. For example type @John Doe instead of @ John Doe. Hope that helps.
@Tarron B. - welcome to BP!
Start with the @ sign, then start typing their name. Anyone on the thread with the name will pop up automatically, and you can click their name to add the link.
People that you are connected to will also show up as an option.
Test it out with @Ben - by the time I finished typing "ben", names started showing up for me to click on.
Thanks @Chris Chesser and @Ben Wilkins you're instructions are clear but I'm not getting the automatic pop up. Maybe its my android or something.
Yes, it's likely your phone; you might need PC for that.
Thanks Ed!
@Tarron B. also, you can type @? and the name menu will pop up..just typing the @ sign does not bring up the menu for me, so I use the @?..Not sure why it works for some and not others..
Hope that helps!
Thanks @Shannon Bae I'm having success on the pc just not the cell.
@Tarron B. Typing @? brings up a list of posters in this thread. Typing @Name brings up a list of all names on the site that start with what you typed.
The phone apps don't have the same full functionality as on a desktop or laptop. Sometimes the site is so busy there are glitches.
I've had the same issues trying to tag people with my iPhone. Works on the PC but not iPhone.

@Tarron B. - BP can be finicky. Tagging didn't work for me on a pc or ipad last night, but it is working now on the same machines.

@Tarron B. I have the same issue with the app on my iPhone. If I don't have quick access to my computer, I actually just go to the full site on my phone instead of using the app or mobile version. It takes a lot of zooming in/out and scrolling, but I like to get my thoughts down before I forget.
Tarron Burton I don't think the android app has that capability. The newest iPhone app does. Also you can only tag people you are colleagues with on BP or have already posted something in the string
