New Raleigh, NC investor

Hi all! We are new investors in the triangle and new to BP. Right now, we have a modest amount of experience as the landlords of two rental properties and are looking to make conventions that will help us choose our next investment. Our first property is a condo in the Fort Lauderdale beach area, a market we understand from having lived there for many years. Blessedly, our tenant is fantastic and low-maintenance. Our second property is in Raleigh--a townhouse in our own neighborhood. Now that we're ready to invest again we are debating buying another property to hold (commercial or residential) or perhaps seeing if we're any good at flipping. We're so looking forward to meeting everyone and drawing on the collective wisdom of all the folks here who are so much more experienced than we are.

Hello Holly and welcome to the site! You & I have some similarities in that I lived in the Fort Lauderdale area for a few years before relocating to NC almost two years ago. You've come to the right place to soak up some knowledge as the folks here are generally super helpful. 

You should set up your Keyword Alerts for areas around the Triangle that you're interested in such as "Raleigh", "Durham", "Cary", etc. Also check out the Podcasts. The Free How-To Guides are a great informational resource. To mention another member, type the '@' symbol then the first few letters of their name. When the box pops up at the bottom of your screen, click their name. If it's highlighted in blue you've done it right and they will receive an email notification. (E.g. @Holly Cox )

If you haven't done so, check out the local TREIA (treia.com) meetings to network with other local investors. The general monthly meeting usually attracts 100+ people from all different types of experience levels and aspects of real estate. There is also the first ever Bigger Pockets Triangle meet up on January 16th in Cary at Bond Park (more info here) which should be pretty awesome. RSVPs are at 40 people and counting.

Upload a profile pic to give the other BP members a face to go with the name and stay active on the site...good things will happen!

My husband & I flew down here for the long weekend to take a look at some properties (& to spend time with family in Apex, of course!). We absolutely love it here.
