Southern California Investors Clubs
Are there any Investors Clubs in Southern California?
I have found a few but after doing some research they seem dishonest, or they will end up trying to sell you their products at like 10-15k.
Im not against paying to learn but i just feel these clubs are trying to take advantage of inexperienced investors.
i want to network and meet people, any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks
I would get ahold of Will Barnard and Jake Kucheck...I know they invest in SoCal and can point you in the right direction.
All the clubs listed are great, awesome resources and great networking.
If you are ever down near San Diego there are three more worth checking out. Also a member here Aaron M. has a monthly lunch in Corona that I've been trying to get up to.
Many years ago, we attended one which met at a hotel along I-405 in LA. The speaker talked about contract "selling" a property without telling the bank holding the mortgage. He neglected to mention that you can not enforce loans for which the appropriate federal form had not been filed,a nd that you can't enforce an illegal contract.
FIBI Meetings are good as Jeff said. I have attended many of them and there are no sales pitches.
Good info guys. I have attended a club meeting in Santa Barbara, as I plan to relocate there soon, along with contact with several others in the area. I fully understand that everyone's got their 'hustle' but I'm really getting tired of the hard sale. I too plan to check out the Studio City Invest Club for Women, along with the FIBI's.
Thanks guys, a lot of great information to point me in the right direction. i will definately check out these clubs.. looking forward to networking with you all.

The FIBI clubs are emphatic about not allowing any sales. They are run by individual investors who pick the topics and speakers and tend to be somewhat informal and less expensive than the other clubs, with no membership.

Ellis San Jose is great - Marina Del rey as is matt Owens who holds two, one in Long Beach and one in Manhattan Beach.
Hi Daniel,
You should join our LinkedIn Group "California Trust Deed Investment Group". It's filled with investors who share ideas and content about california real estate, first trust deeds, private loans, and more.

I run a monthly luncheon the last Friday of every month at the Sizzler in Corona. We meet from noon~3ish. No cover charge, no speakers, no sales pitches, lots of investors from the IE, and you have to buy your own lunch.
Found this late, but going to check out the FIBI groups next meet up the 25th of July. Glad I found this post recommending it I was unsure about it until I saw all the great reviews here as well. Thanks!
A new club recently started which meets in Burbank and the next meeting, I will be the main speaker. Hope to see many BPers there!

I closed the doors on all the meetings I ran as of last December. The Corona meeting mentioned above is no longer active. The only meeting I attend is the weekly Tuesday lunch in Upland at 275 E Foothill Blvd in the Sizzlin Steak House restaurant. They meet at noon. I go about once/month, but there are investors there every week. There is no agenda or speaker. Just investors eating lunch and discussing strategies. I've purchased a few houses there some time ago.
For years I attended all the clubs all over southern CA every month and have spoken at many of them. At this point, the only club I would even consider attending is NSDREI. I think they are the most relevant and they are an actual registered non-profit so there aren't any coaching programs or monthly seminars by the speakers on stage, unlike most of the clubs mentioned above. I would attend SDCIA down in San Diego as well. Excellent club, the largest in CA, and Bill Tan is an absolute gem of a person. Their December meeting is one not to miss.
I have been to the FIBI in north San Diego and would have highly recommended it when Reggie Lal was running it, but since he has removed himself from that organization, I cannot vouch for its effectiveness at this point. FIBI, as a policy, is onsite education only without any sales, so I am sure it is still a great event to attend. I just have not been since the changing of the guard.
Thanks for the reviews Aaron.

Robert Campbell speaker.

They have audio of their past speakers on their site.

Each FIBI chapter offers it's own style of connecting with investors. (full disclosure:I co-founded the FIBI network in 2007)
I have not been to the San Diego FIBI since Reggie Lal left so I am curious to see how they are being run.
I host a general meeting in Westlake Village & invitation only advanced masterminds with real investors not seminar salesmen/women. I have been to & spoken at both NSDREI & SDCIA. They are both run very well & I consider Bill Tan a tremendously gracious teacher & knowledgeable investor.
I can also vouch for Aaron's IE meeting. I haven't been to it in years but the level of expertise & serious dealmaking is incredible.

I have been to several FIBI clubs and found them very educational. I run a club in Thousand Oaks (Ventura County Real Estate Investors Club)and a Commercial RE Mastermind in WH. No sales pitches. Both can be found on meetup.

Happy 2014!! :) I have attended the Invest Club for Women and Investorsworkshops regularly for the past few years and for the most part have been excellent. I have just recently started investing with the locals and aside from one hiccup I'm dealing with they have been very good, supportive, and would highly recommend them as well.
