Post: Successful Property Tax Reduction!

I just had my hearing for reducing the assessed market value for 3 properties.
Between all 3 properties I had over 100K in price reductions - not sure how much that will equate to in property tax savings but it will be substantial.
Question.... When will I see a difference in my taxes? Will I get a notice with my new tax statement and new escrow amount?

Hi Ashira -
I am an investor in the Cleveland market - mostly in the eastern suburbs. You can still find some great deals with nice cash flow in most areas. Please provide some more specifics about what you are after.

How does he have to know its a rental. What if I was living in it - I could still appeal the taxes. Then there would be no rent to multiply it by.

I purchased 3 properties last year that I contested the taxed value on and I am finally scheduled for property value hearing in October.
I am being over taxed on all 3 properties by a fairly large sum and I have my purchase price/comps/ and appraisal to prove the market value.
Is there anything I should be prepared for at this court hearing?

Good Point! Now that you mention it that are already some holes that I didnt think about having to match with wallpaper. This reinforces my decision to get rid of it.

Thanks Kyle - I agree. This is going to be a long term hold (probably) so I will take it down and get it right from the start.

I am painting because the city is requiring me to scrape and paint along with many other POS violations. I understand keeping costs down is good but am okay with spending extra money to get things right from the start so an extra gallon of paint to make different door colors doesnt even cross my mind. Thanks for the tips!

Just closed on this 3 Bedroom 2Bath house that is getting rehabbed to be a rental property.
We were planning on painting the house top to bottom and redoing the hardwood under this carpet. My painter quoted me higher then normal because there is wallpaper in the entire house that I want removed. After getting the quote I am considering leaving some of it up. Should I just pony up the extra money and get this all removed and painted or do you think it looks good enough to leave some up?

Any color ideas for front of house? I will be removing that tree to open up the front and will be removing the awnings.
Color ideas appreciated!
