That's odd.  I know your building and surrounding area well.  You have a nice private building with parking out back.  I really think it's priced fairly.  It just might be a tough time of the year for moving.  The location is good but the school district is not desirable.

Where and when will you be meeting?

Especially considering the mess Penn Station is. Also, the property taxes in NJ ridiculously high. As far as Philadelphia goes, homes are much cheaper. My mother just moved there and keeps pushing for me to buy a rental property. But, if I were to do that. I would need to find someone who will offer me owner financing. That way it doesn't go on my credit and I can continue to find a property in NY. I see you're in Pennsylvania, do you have any properties in NJ or PA? Any recommendations on areas I should research?

Hi,  I'm originally from Greenpoint Bklyn.  I couldn't even imagine trying to invest there.  Currently I don't have any investment properties.  I've been looking but nothing has made sense yet.

Have you given any thought to investing outside the 5 boros or even in NJ?

Like they say, no deal is always better than a bad deal.

Hi, I'm just starting out on this real estate investment journey.  I live in central Pennsylvania and I'm currently looking for my first purchase to buy & hold.  I always hear about driving for dollars but I figured I'd change it up.  Why not combine two things I enjoy, biking and looking at real estate.  I rode through some areas that I'd be interested in investing and found some properties that weren't popping up on the normal sites. It didn't happen today but I also think a neighbor would be more open to discussing properties on their street with someone that's biking/walking rather than someone just hoping out of their car.  Just my thoughts and how I spent my morning.  I really enjoy the podcasts and the forums, they provide hours of education and entertainment.

Also some areas midtown/uptown are in the flood zone and require flood insurance.

Boas and Penn sts are fine. I worked uptown Harrisburg for 17 years and know it extremely well. (FedEx Driver).  Uptown isn't all bad but there are certain streets I'd stay away from.  I know for some investors the schools are a factor.  Harrisburg schools are NOT good.

It really depends on the locations.  Me personally I wouldn't  touch anything inside Harrisburg city limits. The crime is high, neighborhoods are neglected and the schools are horrible.  I am very familiar with the different neighborhoods of Harrisburg. If there's anything I can help you with just let me know.

My focus is on Buy & Hold.  I don't feel I could dedicate enough time and energy to flips working 50+ hours.
