Just wanted to see if anyone was attending this tomorrow, pretty sure it's a 2 part thing. I am going to try my hardest to make the 2nd part of it.

Here is the description I got in a email:

Description: HUD?s HCV Landlord Symposium will provide an opportunity for Indiana PHAs and landlords to connect and to learn about new resources available related to the HCV Program. There are two different sessions for the symposium ? a morning session and an afternoon session. HUD encourages you to attend and register for both sessions. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the session to check-in. Morning Session: Hear from PIH Assistant Secretary R. Hunter Kurtz, the Indianapolis Mayor?s Office, a current HCV landlord and tenant, HUD Secretary Carson?s HCV landlord task force, and an evictions lawyer. Afternoon Session: Hear from Jacob Sipe, the Executive Director of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Agency, Steven Durham, the Director of HUD?s Office of Housing Voucher Programs, and Dan Williams, a Program Manager from HUD?s Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC ? inspections). In addition, the afternoon will feature a panel of Indiana Public Housing Authority Executive Directors that will share some of the unique and innovative strategies they?re implementing at their agencies, including strategies to recruit and retain landlords.

Post: How to handle roaches?!?!

So I have a duplex that a tenant just texted me about having roaches.

The duplex was fully renovated prior to the current tenants, before them it was empty for 8+yrs. Both tenants moved in the beginning of this yr. There was zero bugs in this house before they moved in.

My question is how do you handle this? Any advise? We are going to schedule a exterminator tomorrow, but I dont want this to be a recurring problem.

Also how do you handle this in a larger scale? A apartment building or any larger multi family.(I'll prob need to know this in the future)

@Doug Heim

Interesting! I just bought a house, and they had steel wool stuffed in every hole and crack I found. Now I know why.

@Brian Orr

Dam sounds like a good deal to me. That's how we obtained our first rental as well, a failed flip. Still have it to this day, I dont think I'll ever want to sell it.

@Fili Aguirre if your credit is good enough, maybe. I would go into a few banks, or lending tree is pretty fast. Honestly tho if your that far behind I doubt a bank will loan you more money.

@Harman N. I agree with @Jim Goebel that you most likely wont be able to do exterior projects. For interior jobs, just buy a nice propaine heater and everything should be fine.

Plus in the winter there is less bugs to deal with(crawl spaces and basements). Man do I hate spiders 😖
