Yes there are syndicated deals for AL with Memory Care (usually added on) but majority are 506C and require you to be accredited. There are group homes on a smaller scale (Mom/Pop) usually done by an RN with family/friends.
The concept / sell sounds very strong till you get into the DD and find saturation, demographics,.... ultimately you are investing more into the operator period.
I am currently in several and the industry is undergoing lots of issues as market sales prices have changed considerably over the last 2 years and metrics have changed from NOI cap rate to a per-unit caps.

I agree 100% with @Jay Hinrichs regarding Tesla. This is the website of 100 year old Toyota and Honda people. A business associate has had both the S and 3 and loves them. He use to have his own mechanic place before he sold out.
I have been in them as well as others and they seem to be a good car. He charges them on weekends since his electric bill is very low at that time. The technology in them is far better than what I have seen in the other priced vehicles.

Several reasons I suppose... watching tax deferred plans (SP 500) bounce around, RE seemed easier to create spread / leverage/ arbitrage, Simple & forgiving over time and just not liking my full time job.
I noticed that brokers even CFPs never made anyone I knew wealthy. They would invest what money YOU made (your wealth) for you... IMO.
