Airbnb is a bigger time commitment, but I have found interacting with guests is more enjoyable than interacting with tenants. As you have mentioned the returns are significantly higher. Also find an area and property near your home that you truly enjoy and won't mind spending time there.

Why wouldn't you list your STR on Airbnb? When people are looking for a cabin to getaway, isnt that where they start looking first?
You would need a rather large or powerful marking budget to compete with the traffic a online travel agency like ABB or VRBO could bring to your listing.

You can get market data from AirDNA or PriceLabs Market Dashboard. It sounds like their is opportunity to improve that monthly revenue. Focus on professional photos and use a 3rd party Dynamic pricing tool and you will be off to a good start.

I have had good luck posting yard signs that read Housekeeper wanted and a google voice phone number.
You can also post a job offer on Indeed.com, I have clients that have been successful with that approach
