Welcome, @Reid Mathews. You are right. Being a Pro Member on BiggerPockets is a "No~Brainer". The community is amazing and the use of all the tools on BP is worth thousands of dollars. I have been a Pro member for a bit over a year, and just going through the regimen of using the "Rental Property Calculators", and all the other tools, really drives home the processes to invest in real estate. Incredible community, excellent expertise, amazing price!

Welcome, future "Pro Member"!

Thank you, @Eric Nurmi, @Adrian Stamer, @Account Closed, for the expertise you have given, it is interesting to note that some are for real estate only, others are solely invested in the market, and still others are invested in tangible real estate and the market (among other things, for sure!).  A ton of different ways to skin a cat! It seems one invests in the things that will allow them to sleep peacefully at night . Thank you, Joel!

Excellent input from many investors from all walks of investing, so much priceless information!

Best of profits!  $$$

Wow, @Casey Maeda. Interesting information. I'm just yammering on because the market has been funky for the last three months. Thankfully, my time horizon is 20 years plus, so this is just a blip on the radar. I hear what you are saying, but for me , being invested in Index Funds, as well as RE, has done well for me and is pretty balanced.

I hope and pray 2019 is a nice strong year for all of us!

Yikes, @Adrian Stamer, the "Detroit Effect". Scary.

Thank you, @Account Closed! Hope you are doing well, and good to hear from you. :)  I am like you, a proponent of diversity, I believe in the Stock Market, LONG TERM, and investing in tangible RE. I am just happy I am in Index Funds, as opposed to individual stocks, it sits well with me to capture the WHOLE market. Many years ago, like many others I am sure, I was invested in all high tech stocks and watched $117,000.00 go to $5,000.00 super~fast. It was painful!!!

But, welcome to the world of investing! To become wealthy , one has to take (Calculated!) BIG RISKS!

Merry Christmas, everybody!  $$$

I hear you, @Eric Carr. I try to be diversified between my Index Funds and RE, but it's kinda frightening how the market can tank so much, so quickly.  :(

Hello @Jay Hinrichs! Good for you! Timing the market is a rare bird, right?! Congratulations, my friend. Awesome!

I purchased that parcel of land in Desert Hot Springs, Ca. About a little under 9,000 square feet. Zoned R1. I'll let it sit for a while, and hopefully build a home on it later. I was just there today, and there are some gorgeous houses up there.

Best to both of you!  $$$

Ha! Well said, @Bryce Litwin!  you are exactly right. Over the last three years (except for the last three months!), my Index Funds have done extremely well. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it, too!

Best to you!
