Just my thoughts. Since this poor guy has no one watching out for him, you may want to talk to someone at your local Office for the Aging. They may have some ideas- volunteers, surrogates, caregivers etc. They may have a mechanism to appoint a guardian.   It can’t hurt to ask- and I know that as a landlord you can’t get emotionally involved- but it would be a kindness just as a fellow human being to see if you can get help for him.

What is the market value of the house? Say it’s $50,000. Now ask yourself, ,” If I inherited $50,000 would I invest in a rental property in that location?” If the answer is no-sell.

What about renting it to a tenant? Maybe they’d like additional storage.

Satellite companies don’t come take them down when service is discontinued either, and require a new dish with new service for new accounts. It’s why there are duplexes everywhere with six or seven dishes on them. Looks awful!

The ADA says Service dogs and ESDs must not show aggression and be under control of the owners at all times. Evict. But use an attorney- don’t try to litigate this without one.

Post: Does the purchase of a property trigger an updated tax assessment

My understanding is that generally assessed value is a percentage of market value. If you find out what the assessment rate is, you should be able to figure out whether the assessment is in line with your purchase price. If it is, your taxes won’t increase.
