Equity Indexed Universal Life INSURANCE POLICY. Don't think of it as an "account." It's a life insurance policy with cash value in it that - when structured appropriately - you can pull from on an income tax free basis. I'm a Certified Financial Planner in my full time career, and I'm not using one of these as a retirement vehicle simply because it's not appropriate in my situation. There's a time and place for everything; just be wary of generalized blanket financial advice.

HELOC? Home Equity Line of Credit?
I'm a little surprised at these responses, particularly Aaron's. Amanda Young You are right to foster discussion among agents about ways to stay protected and guard yourself. It's just smart to think ahead and in no way insinuates that you're living life in fear.

Jeff Lee Picking one color to use on all walls in all properties is one of the first tricks I ever learned and I can't convey through text how much headache it has saved me. Don't make things harder than they have to be. You won't be living there.

Lalaine Hagler All easy fixes. Get a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the pen marks. There are also enamel paint kits at Home Depot to help tackle chips on the sink. Lalaine Hagler But they need to learn to change a light bulb out themselves! Oh, and pencil can usually be painted over. Pen, not so much. At least it sounds like they will respect your house if they are so particular about these things.

Chris Casper Just know that buying a house to flip doesn't guarantee you any return at all. It can be tough. I've flipped one. Took a month longer to reno and then 8 months to close on the sale. Made $6,000 at the end of the day. You make your money when you buy. I'm sticking to buy and hold.
