I have an STR on Dauphin Island below Mobile, and our house is not Gold Certified. It was built by a structural engineer to be hurricane proof, but he said he did not bother to get the certification while he was building because the extra cost would never benefit him with the small savings in insurance premiums. I can give you my insurance guys info if you want to get his thoughts.

We have to fight to find them, but here in Montgomery, we can still be all-in for 110k -120k and get 1,100 - 1,200 rent.
