Are you in the due diligence phase? You might consider having a plumber run a camera through the lines to make sure there aren’t any other plumbing surprises awaiting you. It won’t cost you much, and will save you a lot of money if there are issues in the pipes running from the house to the street. Normal home inspections don’t cover those pipes, so you’re rolling the dice without getting them scoped separately.
Taylor Chiu, great tip! I am submitting an offer so not in the due diligence phase as of yet but will definitely consider having a plumber look at this if my offer gets accepted. Thank you.

3) Leak that went down all the way to the garage roof from one of the tubs
The owner said the issues have been fixed for a while now. Are these types of plumbing issues common in a 40 year old home? Would you go for a house with these types of issues and how would you approach it?
Those are all pretty minor things. I wouldn't say that they have anything to do with the way homes were built in that period of time. More so to the way that the specific plumber who did the install did them. Some of it could be because he was sloppy. The stuff under the sinks could be because people have been hitting them over the last 40 years when they shove items in & out of their cabinets etc.....
Great feedback thank you everyone.
Hi James would you say that the leak from the tub showers/faucets that flooded to the garage roof is a minor thing as well?
I guess I am concerned issues may reoccur and I have no idea how much it would cost to fix everything properly. Hopefully the inspector/contractor can evaluate the issues and costs to fix since these things are behind walls. To me because they are behind walls it seems like a complicated issue

Hello BP Community! I am looking at a home which has a view of shops and businesses from the backyard about maybe 300-400 feet away. They are car shops, a martial arts school, donut shop, etc. I guess my concern is what if they put a club/bar, spa, etc. This would probably make the home less desirable and harder to rent out or sell?
I am in Houston, Texas.
Thank you.

The Trulia flood map has been down for a while. Anyone know of other good and current flood maps?

Thanks for including a pic
I think it means you need to buy a powerwasher. My guess is there were bushes tucked up against the brickwork. I wouldn't worry about that.
There are much much more scary things going on in that photo. Looks like you need new windows, roof, potentially HVAC system. Smells like money if you get a good price.
Thank you Greg! How did you determine it needed a new HVAC system from that pic?

When a house has those black spots as shown on the bottom part of the house in the attached
picture, what does this usually mean? Is this usually not a big deal to remove/repair or is this a sign of a bigger issue?

@Russell Gronsky, that is a good point. Have you used those? I have no idea how to use them or what to look for. Is it pretty straight-forward?
