Thanks, everyone, I really appreciate the responses! @Gail K., I'll check out that site, and I hope to see you at one of local group meetings sometime!

I just purchased a little house that will need a decent bit of work to get ready for rent (we're working the BRRRR method). We won't be jumping into the rehab on it until January.

The only thing that made me a little nervous about this one is a german cockroach problem, which I've never had to deal with.  The roaches are in the kitchen, which is going to be gutted and replaced when we start the rehab, and it appears the previous owners treated with something (or maybe the cold weather has killed them off - I just haven't seen any live roaches).  Should I just treat the place with boric acid and traps for a bit before we start the rehab to be safe, or are german roaches persistent enough that you would recommend hiring a professional to come treat?

AORE is usually the second Saturday of the month at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion (sometimes held at the library instead), but this month's meet-up was pushed back to the 19th (next weekend). It kicks off at 8:30 AM. Similarly, REIA is usually the second Thursday, but it was pushed back to the 17th this month - so you can catch them both.

Welcome to the site, @Antonio Bizzard! I hope we see you out at the local REIA or AORE meet ups, where you can get to know some of the local crowd.

Damien, if you're looking for mentors to learn from, I would highly recommend frequenting the local investor meet up opportunities. I'm a novice myself, but I've found a plenty of folks to learn from and work with at the local REIA and AORE sessions. Show up regularly, ask questions, and let people know what you're interested in working on. Best of luck - look forward to seeing you at one of the meetings!

I drove by this place earlier today, Kenneth. Outside my price range right now, but this is a great spot and tons of potential!

Welcome to the area, Cathy! I'm not sure about the Columbia REIA, but the Augusta one meets at 7:00 PM at the Columbia County Library on the second Thursday of each month. Believe you can find them on Facebook, too.

I don't know the room number, @Elton Seton, but you'll be able to spot it easily.  It's a small building, and the little hall of conference rooms is right off the main entrance.

@Elton Seton, they're pointing you to something different. I'm not talking about any seminar, I'm talking about the monthly meeting of the local REIA. It starts at 7 pm, and you don't have to pre-register. I believe your first meeting is free and then there's a $5 or so charge for subsequent meetings if you're not a member.

If you're going to be in Augusta this week, I'd suggest hitting the local REIA meeting to meet some investor friendly agents and local investors in person. This Thursday at 7:00 PM, Columbia County Library in Evans. Or hit up @Chris Majors here on BP.
