I love reading posts like this. It is a kick in the butt when I am feeling a little lazy. 

Sending marketing letters to people in the mail is far from harassment. I would not worry about law enforcement getting involved in this matter. Not just talking out of turn, I have LE experience. 

Secondly if he is not willing to at least tell you what his address is, which you already have, then there is no reasonable way for you to know which John he is, therefore you will not be able to remove him from your list. I would document the interaction by taking notes on what was said just in case a LE agency calls you to find out what this guy is complaining about. That way they will know that they are not dealing with a harassment situation.
