Wow, this is a great thread! So glad you asked that question, it was personally helpful to me. I am a realtor and my husband isn't supportive of me investing in real estate! He is all about the stock market and I think there is WAY more risk on that side of the investing coin! Best of luck, Jessie! Swing for the fences!!

Hi Jaime, and welcome! I am doing what you are planning, got my RE license and working with investors, while looking for my own properties. Sounds like you have a great head start on your investing journey! Best of luck and hope to see you around, maybe do a deal together some day!

Hi Michael, I agree, as an investor and active RE agent, the fees are a pain. I am with McGraw and don't utilize the office space that I am paying the brokerage for. I think some of the smaller brokerages might be a better fit for someone who wants to just be an investor. I am working with other investors, so I absolutely plan to keep my license active.

Welcome to both of you! Lots of knowledge on here, and plenty of opinions too, of course. I find it useful to see others asking the same questions I have, so read as much as you have time for. Good luck!

Jason, I would offer a different opinion. I have investors who like Broken Arrow, Bixby, and Jenks, but it can be hard to make numbers work when you are competing with so many people wanting those homes to live in. I believe there are many good areas in Tulsa, and maybe more bargains to be had. Not everyone wants to rent out in the suburbs, and not everyone is concerned with the school district. I have an investor right now that is closing this week on a property that is north of 11th St, near The University of Tulsa and they will have great cash flow. If Tulsa works for you and your family, it can and does work for many investors.
