@Michele Velazquez there are really only 3 or 4 markets this forum deems worthy. Big bear is one of them. Go for it!

@Pratik Singhi I agree with everyone else too many things going wrong here. Reminds me of today’s podcast “syndication is the new timeshare”

You’ve got no experience. Start your “company” by buying a house and self managing it. Heck you don’t even know if you’ll like it!

@Julie McCoy I agree he’s been holding down this fort since we were in diapers. I consider him the mayor.

@Michael Baum I’m covered in tattoos and don’t own a shirt with sleeves. Not kidding :) But my jokes aren’t as good as uncle Paul.

STR vs LTR

I assume you mean $1000-1500 EXTRA? for STR vs LTR? If its furnished with appliances and furniture that are 5 star worthy you've got nothing to lose! If you decide it's too much work (which means your systems are weak) then just put a tenant in there and be done with it.

Being a town home you will have issues with your neighbors not wanting new people in and out all the time and the guests being too loud and puking. But deal with that as it comes.

I say go for it!

Good luck!

I don't think we have any SA experts here on the STR forum but I could be wrong. You'll need to answer these questions yourself regardless of getting answers off of this forum or from anyone. Spend some time obsessing on Airbnb. Study the areas and study the properties you like. You can pretty quickly determine how much money hosts are making. Also call around and find an STR realtor in the area. If there isn't one it's likely not a lucrative venture.

As for Brrrr why do you mention this? Lack of start up cash? That's a whole other conversation.

Also be very careful trying to STR inside the limits of a city. Generally this is frowned upon. Especially on this forum. They'll shut you down at some point.

I'd suggest starting with a LTR SFH especially if you have a lack of cash.

vote button please! :)
