I touched on this on one of Pauls posts but here goes....

Guest checked in Saturday. Late Saturday night (midnight) I got a message and the thread goes as follows...

guest: "Hey just FYI your tv is broken Netflix on displays a half screen and the cable box doesn't work. I hooked up my laptop directly to the hdmi cable and nothing" (i'm guessing too much moonshine)

me: "Interesting that's a brand new tv try putting it on HDMI1, also why are you messing around with cables?"

Guest sends picture with broken screen. It's the left half.

me: "Why is the tv slid all the way to the left against the wall?" (from what I can tell guest slid it to the left and banged it on the wall to its left which my guess is that's why it's broken. Probably drunkenly trying to get at hdmi inputs to hook up his computer)

guest: "idk it was like that so i tried casting from my phone and same thing we're just goin to use our laptop. It displays everything else fine until Netflix plays a movie not sure" (so it went from not working at all to working on everything but Netflix which there's no way that's possible. The pic he sent the whole left half of the tv is busted)

Cleaner is headed over now for more info. If it really is trashed I'll have to send handyman to Walmart to replace it today.

I called airbnb they said send him a resolution (bill) for the price of the TV and see if he pays it. If he doesn't it will get escalated and during the process he still has the right to leave a review.

This was a $600 55" TLC that I purchased last may so it did't even make it a year.

I have until 4:00 today (before next guest check in) to file the resolution.

What would you do??

I have LARGE (55”-65”) in the living room and I generally move whatever used to be in the living room to the bedroom as the properties come furnished in my market. I have one of the TCLs in question and just last night a guest messaged me and said the Netflix screen is “broken” they sent me a pic and half the screen is fuzzy. I contacted TCL, their website was very easy and even let me upload a pic. We’ll see what they say about the problem as this TV is less than 6 months old I hate to say it but it’s looking like you get what you pay for. I’ll keep you updated. I have had good luck the 65” Sharp Aquos from Walmart I have 2 of those.

oh contraire my dear Lance. People looking to save a buck are the worst kind of guest in my market! Hotel with 6000 neighbors or a log cabin alone in the woods all to yourself with a hot tub? Then again I’m in a vacation market.

Why share my own tips when AirBnB helps me out daily with their own professional tips! Just today they gave me 6 pointers that I’ll share with you..... 1. Lower my prices 2. Lower my prices 3. Make my nightly rates lower 4. Make it easier for guests to cancel 5. Lower my prices 6. Drop my rates They are so helpful about making my listings better I love them so much!

the PURE GENIUS of P. Sandhu strikes again!

I'm with @Mark S. I also try to picture his properties although I was picturing something more like swinging doors, tumble weeds, and chaps. Different but not really different at all. And now every time I read one of @Paul Sandhu's posts I'll sing I Can't Drive 55.

Well again I think those things are related. You don’t get any bookings because you don’t like it. There was a time I got zero from vrbo and almost got rid of it. Instead I sat down and spent a couple of hours working on my listings. A year later I’m closer to probably 60/40.

I checked google news there’s nothing. John Underwood I wish you would spend an hour getting familiar with AirBnB for my money it smokes the crap out of VRBO. Have you tried the app?

Spend some time on google I’ve never checked Chicago but most cities have rules against short term term renting or what has become known as “AirBnBing” Especially apartment/condo STR. And if you’re planning to rent an apartment and throw it on AirBnB you’re better off getting a job at The Verizon store. Or asking Paul Sandhu for an internship. Let us know what happens next!

Let’s take a poll. VRBO vs AirBnB. It’ll go something like this. Over 50 - Green Texts/VRBO Under 45 - Blue Texts/AirBnB 45-50 -stuck in hotels Bahahahaha!
