Just read this article on the 2015 home trends.

Any surprises for any of you? I think the one that was the biggest news to me was the stand-alone bathtub in the center of the bathroom.

@Long Khang I'd go to some of the local real estate networking meetups and let folks know that you're interested in buying notes and ask if they can recommend someone in your area.
At a local meetup I host, we invited one of our local note buyers, Robert Young, to talk and educate us about the process. Here it is if you're interested in watching. It's very informative.

@Steve Rozenberg Maybe we should all start being a little more silent about this!
I think I want to change my earlier answer to, "Yes, the sky is falling."

@Karen Margrave I've seen Paperstone in the slate color and really liked it. I've never priced it or used it though.

@Karen Margrave Thanks for that info!
I almost went with some Western glass doors on this project, but ended up using Fleetwood.

Overall I think Houston will be fine, but I think we're going to see a dip from this. Remember, perception is reality and a lot of folks are worried. Worried folks are reactionary folks, and I think a couple of places that we'll see the reaction is from the banks and out of state buyers.
Will that keep me from buying in Houston? Heck no! I'm actually looking in that area and hoping that the oil price dip will help curb some of the buying frenzy that we're seeing in Texas, thus normalizing the sales prices

@Aaron Junck it's sexy, right?
I haven't priced it recently, but it should be much cheaper than quartz, which is why we used it in the first place at the office. When we did ours we went to a metal yard and bought the steel sheet, which was priced by the pound. They have metal brakes at the yard, so they can do the bends.
We didn't do a waterfall, like in the picture I posted, but we did do a 4" bend up on the back to create a seamless backsplash.
I keep thinking I'm going to use steel again in one of my projects, but then I end up putting quartz in.

@Karen Margrave Do you mean concrete fiber to strengthen a poured concrete countertop or something else?
If you're looking for an alternate solution, I love and am always considering steel. You have to have the right look in the home (and likely a very certain kind of buyer), but I love this look. We did it in my office.
In order to keep it from rusting, it has to be maintained. You can either seal it, or do it with a wax product.

Inspired by the poll style posts by @Karen Margrave , so I'm starting my own!
What brand and style of windows do you like to use and what do you see your buyers liking (or even caring about)?
When I use vinyl, I use Simonton.
For commercial annondized style , I use Ram, but I know a lot of others that are using Western and Milgard.
