I agree about the safety part. As long as you keep your parents in the loop, and they are fine with it. I actually attend NWREIA and am long time friends with the leader of the monthly general meetings. We will not be having one in Dec. as it is a members only party, but starting up in Jan you should come join us. It is $10 for non members, but message me and I will see if we can work something out for you when you can make it. You can find the events at http://northwestreia.com.

Let me know if your parents are OK with you coming and when you can make it. I help set up the tech stuff, so I would be happy to introduce you to some people.

Sounds like your old teacher is a great resource as well. If he is a teacher, generally those people are the "Teaching" type and great for teaching many things in their lives.

Keep us posted. Who knows, a few years from now, all the BP Portland members may be coming to YOU for deals and advice! haha.

Hello Sandy.

On your website question. I would suggest getting business cards first. When you go to a REIA meeting, it is super simple to just hand out your card. It is harder to try and have people write down your website. The other thing is that it sounds like you are still finding your area to get involved? If you are not sure what area of RE you want to be involved in, then it is hard to build a website around that. Hope that helps.

One quick addition from their official website that shows why they may be more accurate than other "estimate sites".

"Homesnap is powered by a specialized homes database that combines hundreds of disparate sources of data. Our data feeds include: over 40 MLS real estate databases, property tax records, census data, geographic boundaries, property polygons, school information, mortgage rates and more."

Hi Jerome.

I noticed that your post had gone unanswered about Homesnap. You may have already searched here and found the answer. I was turned onto Homesnap by my wholesale mentor and he loves it. I found myself using it (while stopped) when near houses just to get a feel for the local market or whatever part of town I am in. From what I have seen, it is spoken of MUCH higher around here that Zillow and other sites like that for sure. Nothing beats a good title company comparison, but this seems to be pretty close. being able to use the app out in the field and pulling up a map view of what has sold in that area that matches what you are doing...well that is basically the definition of "pulling comps".

In the end, before you lock in any numbers and contracts, you always want to have the home inspected and valued by a professional, but Homesnap is a great starting point before you start going after a deal, to make sure it actually IS a deal.

Hope that helps and is not a 4 month late, already answered question. haha

Thank you David. Can you expound a bit on the "unique records only" option?

I do not see that when I do an advanced search. I am not very skilled with spreadsheets. I do know how to launch the filter option, but not sure where this option is that you are speaking of.

Hello BP friends.

I have looked for hours on how to filter my spread sheets and can not find anything that is specific for the RE industry.

I get monthly lists from my agent of potential leads. Each month though, some duplicates come in and I want to figure out the most accurate way to add list to list and sort out duplicates. For example combining Aug with Sept, then Oct comes, now Nov...how can I combine those and no chase my tail so to speak looking up the same properties I have already looked into back in Aug? I am open to any system, but figured keeping them in the spread sheet format is a good way to keep them filed and organized?

Thank you for your time on this everyone!

Welcome @Cameron Wallace ! Sounds like you already have a HUGE head start in the game. haha. This is an excellent place to learn. Be sure to set your Key word alerts for things like "Portland" "Oregon" and anything else you are interested in. This is also a great place to teach, and it sounds like your childhood and growing up must have given you great advantages. Please be sure to share what you know here in the forums so we can all learnb and grow together...that is the name of the Game in REI.

Hello @Eric Blanchard ! Welcome to BP! Great to see another Oregon member coming to the site. I like your profile and seems to me you have the "Pay it forward" mindset...which is pretty much what REI is based around, so you are off to a great strat there.

As others have said, set up your keywords and you will be sure to make lots of new friends. I am currently working in the Wholesale field, but also do a lot of networking and match making. Let me know if there is anything I can help out with! I will add you to my list for sure. Hard to find a good source of contractors. I will be sure to match people up that are in need.

Any chance you could share that spread sheet with the rest of us here on BP Dev? That sounds like an incredible resource!
