Post: Short term rental in Shreveport, LA

Hey Chance. I'm glad to hear that your father is getting treatment for his cancer. What hospital/facility will he be at? We might be able to put our heads together to find a short term rental that will fit his needs.

A couple of questions:

-I'm so sorry to hear that you guys are having troubles locating a short term rental. What sources have you tried to make contact with thus far? Management companies? Hotels? Any recommendations from the hospital?

-What part of town did he need to be in?

-I know you mentioned him completing a fix/flip while he was here. Is that realistic while going through treatments? Wouldn't that be a tad overwhelming?

-What amenities is he looking for?

-A friend of mine owns the Sleep Inn near LSUHSC and I can always reach out to him to see if he would be able to make accommodations for an extended stay. One of the purposes of him and his partner building that hotel was to provide extended stay for individuals in your fathers situation.

@Sean Miles .... Welcome to BiggerPockets! This community is AWESOME and I can't say enough positive about the site. It's great to have another investor from the Shreveport/Bossier area here.

Take care and keep in touch.

Definitely!

Lee... I wrote a long response to you this afternoon  but for some reason it didn't  send. When I leave this rehab tonight I will definitely make contact  with you. As Robert  said I would be happy to help you make some connections in NWLA and share with you some networking  groups in our area. Some members  from BP  formed a group about nine or ten  months ago and it has gone from 5 guys to a group of over 20 and rising  every  month. Also, there is another group in our area who are more passive investors and I will pass along that group as well.

I am very passionate  about  helping  other investors  because so many people have helped me and are continuing  to do so.

Please excuse any grammatical  errors. I'm sending  this from my mobile  device.

Take care and I will definitely  send some  more information  when I get back to my desktop  tonight.

@Steve White ... great to have another person from the Shreveport/Bossier area. If you are interested in one of the REIAs that are in our area just send me a PM and I will forward you the information.

What do you do for a living?

What area of town were you looking to invest in?

Do you own any properties?

What are you looking to accomplish with your investing?

If I can help you in anyway just let me know. I am very passionate about real estate investing and love to help others.

Hey @Cole Phillips ... I personally haven't been through the licensing program in Louisiana but a good friend of mine @Justin Kilgore recently completed it. You might want to PM him to see if he has any pointers.

Post: Double Closet Doors

@Jeff Lee I have not purchased double closet doors (44", two-arch panel) but I have purchased for two different properties the single two-arch panel doors. Relia-Bilt was the manufacturer and I purchased them from Lowes. I did a quick search on their website and didn't see a double door option. Give Lowes a call they might be able to help.

My thoughts would be that you would have to customize them to your rough opening. Or if you took down existing doors you could buy 2 slabs and customize them that way.

I found this article online that might be helpful...  http://tatertotsandjello.com/2012/05/how-to-replac...

Also, you might want to try Custom-Bilt Cabinet in Shreveport. It won't hurt to give them a call... they can probably lead you in the right direction.

Take care

Michael
