I'm considering buying a Freddie Mac property that needs renovation. Can someone please offer any insight on what I should be offering in relation to the asking price? I've read about the bidding process and the timeframe to receive offers. Simply put, I'm wondering if I can get this house for $50,000 (or even less) when the asking price is $80,000.

For background: The property was auctioned in March of last year and has been on the MLS for about a month and a half.

Hello and welcome!  Getting a license will help you learn and get you ready.  You really do not have to get your foot in the "door".  I am 59 years old and born and raised in Dallas Texas.  I graduated from college and got a broker license in 1980.  I have been in the construction business since I was17.  I found BP about 3 months ago and still earning. Good luck!

Hello and welcome to you both!  It's really all about learning.  Even if your market seams crowded learning will help you.  I am 59 years old and I was born and raised in Dallas Texas.  I graduated from college and got my broker license in 1980..  I have been in the construction business since I was 17.  If you think I can help you two in any way please contact me at any time.  I found BP about 3 months ago  ago and I am still learning.  Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the both of you!  First of all you have to learn enough before you get started.  I would either do whole selling or get into renting a house or small MF with Owner financing.  That way you can start without having much money. I'm 21 years old and new here to BiggerPockets and also new to Real Estate Investing. I want to use Real Estate as an avenue in building wealth ! I know its not always easy or get rich quick scheme. I have one question, I really do dream of one day being on of the top 1% Real Estate Investors in the country. I only see myself there if I outwork everyone and if I am constantly surrounded by people in the same field. I know that often hours put in helps those chances. But I have a 9-5 that wastes so much of my time. I want to start either entry level or any position that can surround me with Real Estate Investors and/or like minded people. What would be a 'Real Estate Job' that I could apply for ? I know people sometimes work as Real Estate Agents, but I have heard that Agents often never invest and have very little investing knowledge. In your opinion, what 9-5 can I have to help achieve my goals ?

Thanks in advance !

Hello and welcome.  It will probably help you to have I license but I would try to be a real estate investor  assistant.  That will let you earn and learn while you are there.  I am 59 years old and am from Dallas Texas. And was raised there.  I am a college graduate and I got a broker license in 1980.  I have been in the construction business since I was 17.  If you think I could help you please contact me at any time.  Good luck!
