@Jake Clement - Hey Jake, Welcome to BP!
I love seeing more local investors in the area. There are plenty of others in the area that would be happy to help you out with anything you may need.
The REIA meeting that Lance mentioned was this week. Hopefully, you can catch December's meeting. I think it's $5 for first timers and $10 each month after that for non-members, or you can join and it's $60 annually.
There is also MOPOA (Metropolitan Omaha Property Owners Association) that meet the second Monday of every month. I've never been so I do not have any other information, but I'm sure someone else will answer that for you.
Thirdly, we had our first unofficial meetup this month and are currently planning next month's meeting. No details yet, but I will shoot them your way when I have them.
Congratulations on finding the Fountain of Knowledge that is BP!

@Marc Choiniere - Hey Marc, welcome to BP!
When I first relocated to the Omaha area I was really looking for a multifamily to get involved with but I couldn't make the numbers work on anything I could find. I'm glad to hear that you managed to make one work.

@Anthony Palmer - That's great news man. Taking action doesn't mean that you have to spend money. By you analyzing deals and your wife looking up rehab costs you have already taken a step toward your goals. Congratulations to the both of you!

@Anthony Palmer - I would say just get started man. I love books and I read all of the time, but I've learned more and experienced more from taking action than I could from just books!
@Kyle Godbout - I'm sorry you missed last month's BP meetup, but don't worry. They are going to be a reoccurring thing. I will not be able to attend December's meetup, but I'll gladly set it up for everyone else to enjoy.
I'm looking forward to seeing both of you at the REIA meeting come Monday!

We're glad to have you with us. Lance mentioned the REIA meeting next Monday. Hopefully, we see you there!

First and foremost,
I wanted to thank everyone who was able to attend. We had a much larger turnout that I was expecting. It had nothing to do with my planning/organizational skills, and everything to do with the eagerness, passion, and willingness to teach and learn that I saw Wednesday night. So again, a huge thank you and good job to everyone that made the first meetup a success!
To those who could not attend, I'm sorry to say that you missed out on a great night. That's fine though, there will be more!
I would like to ask your help in reaching out to investors in the area, whom you think might be interested. I was told that finding the thread and the meetup information was difficult. So, lets spread the word, thank you in advance for your efforts.
Thank you everyone!

@Mike Dixon Welcome to BP and the Real Estate game Mike!
Glad to have you with us. Wholesaling is a good way to start and often times said to be one of the hardest. What is going to be your next actionable step to achieving your goal?
@Anthony Palmer - Hey Anthony,
Haven't heard much from you since you originally started this thread. How are things going for you?
Post: Beginner Investor Looking To Purchase Multi-Family With Va Loan

@Account Closed - Congratulations on taking the plunge Robert!
I'm currently going through the process of securing a deal using a VA loan as well. I currently have roommates who are mil-to-mil and only one of them has used their VA loan the other has it in reserve for future use. That is always something to keep in mind if you need financing in the future.
Another thing is to make sure you do your research on what the VA requires and what the processes to getting approved will take. I know reading on the website doesn't give you much more than the basics. I've had a lot of success working with a Loan Officer who specializes in VA loans and she has been a godsend going through this process.
Hopefully, this helps and if you have any more questions just let me know!

@Andrew Halbert - Thank you for the fantastic response, and again. Congratulations on getting started.
Also, I love how you didn't take anything as a "mistake" as much as a learning experience.

Hey @Benjamin Kopf ,
I think you're referring to the meetup tomorrow on the 4th.
The skinny on it is tomorrow night at 6:30 PM at Noli's Pizzeria in Midtown-crossing/Blackstone district.
I've gotten RSVPs from about 10 people so far. Come out and meet everyone!
This is the first gathering so far so don't feel nervous about attending. Experience varies greatly and who knows, you may find that mentor you're searching for.
