Anyway, back to the original topic. Hank is a good representation of modern day liberals. It is a shame that they aren't smarter, even though they go to the best schools. There is a disconnect somewhere.

I'm with Mike, if you're doing residential rentals, forget the cap rate. It's just another number to figure out.

I did truly want an answer to that question and you are helping. You say that oil wasn't the main reason. And yet I remember (and still hear) that we invaded Iraq for the oil...no other reason.

Does that answer your question?
And that was only part of the reason we invaded Iraq.
Don't forget Bush and Cheney have large stakes in companies that were awarded tens of billions in defense contracts thanks to the war. They each made tens of millions of dollars thanks to the Iraq war.
Oh, and don't forget about W's personal vendetta against Saddam for trying to assassinate his dad.
There were LOTS of personal reasons for the war...oil was just a side benefit...
thanks for the info J. I'm trying to follow this in my head, though. The government spends trillions of dollars to fight a war, so that private companies (whom the same government hates because they make so much money) gets a better contract for oil...and at the same time we have more oil than Saudi Arabia in our own back yard. I don't know...it just doesn't make sense.

MIke, my question is about the left wing conspiracy theory that we invaded Iraq for oil. That's what confuses me...I'm just looking for the oil.

I hear a lot of left wing people say that we invaded Iraq for the oil. admittedly I'm not a smart man. I dropped out of college, but I do have a lot of real world experience. So help me understand this please. If we invaded a country for oil..where is the oil? Why are gas prices so high if we took all their oil? Why don't we get oil out of the Gulf of Mexico instead of letting Russia drill there? Wouldn't that be cheaper than starting a war? I know...you can call me stupid, and that's ok...just please explain it to me at a high school level.
Thank you in advance.

funny how the onion can be taken as serious sometimes because the story lines aren't that crazy sounding with this administration.

Tim,
I've used it on my $950 houses, and they love it. When you put a fresh coat on it's nice and shiny.
one thing I learned...that oil based paint takes a while to fully cure. Dries to the touch in about 8 hours, but takes 30 days or so to fully cure. It scratches really easy during that time.
