@Chris Yeung I use Castle Property managers. They are always ready to go the extra mile for me, and my properties have not been the simplest to manage lately. Google them or PM me for their details. You can also  reach out to @Barry Conrad or @Max Nussenbaum on BP.

@Marz Junior

Welcome to the site and best of luck.

I would caution you though- as a foreign investor myself- stay away from Detroit. I have been investing in Detroit proper and hold a few properties over there. I have come to the conclusion that Detroit is not a market that can be successfully invested alone long distance. The actual returns are nowhere near expected and the headaches are enormous. Fix and flips are out of the question, I can barely control a simple pre rental rehab.

@Jerry W. has given you some solid advice above. I am moving in that direction and also looking into crowdfunding opportunities- which might interest you as well- considering the ability to invest relatively smaller sums in diverse assets.

@Jonatan Nir- something doesn't sound right in your post.

You have 25 properties and no insurance ?!?

Who is managing your properties ?- Fire them fast, and start doing homework.

Investing in Detroit long distance is always "interesting" - to put it mildly.

I could tell you some hairy stories as well. I think what saved you from further damage is the local knowledge and family on the ground. I have not been so lucky most of the time.

Every deal I do- I learn something. I am sure you wont make the same mistake again.

Good luck going forward.

Hello @Russell Mitchell,

Welcome to BP.

I am a foreign investor like yourself and own a few lower end properties in Detroit. I was in your position a few years ago and have learnt a fortune since staring out in Detroit.

I can only agree with @Larry Turowski Detroit is a very very difficult market to do long distance. Don't get me wrong- there are people who are investing successfully in Detroit, and I have met quite a few of them- but they are all on the ground over there, very knowledgeable and very hands on and experienced. It takes far more than a property manager to succeed as an overseas investor in Detroit. To put it in a nutshell if I knew then, what I know now- I would never have invested in Detroit.

PM me if you would like more information - happy to share.

I can second @Jon W. 's recommendation.

I have been working with them for awhile now- find them responsive, transparent and committed. Also have a  great online platform for an absentee landlord like myself.

You can also reach out to @Barry Conrad here on BP

Shalom Yaron,

I would recommend setting up a US LLC, + US bank account. There are tax and reporting issues specific only to foreign investors, but these are all technicalities that can be overcome.

The bigger difficulties lie in investing, managing and controlling your assets long distance.

PM me if you would like to connect and discuss.
