I can't find anything recent about them, can't find my old ones and not getting alerts. Just something I happen to realize today, are they even a tool anymore?

I am a local investor with a little experience and nothing to sell. I only want to meet with like-minded people, with good intentions, and hopes of developing prosperous discussions. I've not seen many Gaston County meetups, and have not been able to find a Charlotte meetup that suits my intentions, so I decided to start my own. This will be the first meeting I'm hosting.
I intend to have an open discussion centered around Real Estate Investing and establishing financial freedom. I am not a professional and offer no advice or products, simply sharing experiences. I'd also like to instill a mastermind style period of statements and feedback.
Anybody that's interested in the discussion please let me know. Looking forward to meeting you all.

I’ve been to a few so far that left a lot to be desired. I attended two today through meetup.com ... the morning meeting the host didn’t show and the evening meeting was setup in a busy hotel cocktail bar. Needless to say I left after about 5 minutes of shouting about nothing... nothing against them I guess, as I imagine it takes a lot to run one, and of course the willingness to do so.
That said, no use complaining so I will be starting my own meetup in a quiet location for general real estate discussion. It will be in Belmont, so anybody from Gastonia, Charlotte, cramerton, Lowell, Belmont, Stanley, Mount Holly, Shelby, concord, kannapolis, rock hill, tega cay, and any surrounding Charlotte metro is welcome.
I’m posting this because It’s becoming apparent to me what successful meetings are not, so I’m looking for advice from the forum on what a successful meeting is. How do I go about making this a meeting to provide value for people who take time to attend?
Any tips, strategies, structure is welcome. And of course anybody interested in a weekly or monthly meeting to discuss general REÍ strategies and develop this group with me please feel free to send me a message.

Thank you everyone for all of the information. I unfortunately fell for the $300 weekend seminar upgrade scam. I've been unable to attend for near a year now and am set to in a couple of weeks. I don't expect I can get a refund but at least I won't waste my time going... I've since read every book published by BP along with a load of others. I'm finding youtube to be a decent resource too as you can view Tony Robbins speeches and the like.
Anyway, thanks again for all of the input. I simply won't waste my time attending that as I've come to realize I probably won't get anything out of it I haven't learned already from BP and you all in the forums

I've heard multiple times on podcasts, people that speak of large value from continued education, conferences, seminars, etc... But i've also seen a few BP blog posts warning that they are scams... The one around here a lot is the Rich Dad education series. A 3 day course that's affiliated with Kiyosaki sounds great of course...
Can anybody suggest a list of helpful seminars and conferences vs. ones we know are scams?
