@Maurice Smith My thoughts are: This is 100% media driven frenzy! The flu is more deadly. Drug overdoses are mor deadly. Pneumonia, etc. This is totally a hoax driven for political purposes to crash the economy.

@Account Closed I did and do know there are states that have laws different from CA, and I mentioned that in one of my posts. However; regarding the original post, I mentioned as he is from Washington, and they like CA are a blue state that has much more stringent laws when it comes to real estate, tenant rights, and protections of various classes. My post was stating that I was surprised in WA you could even mention marital status, in CA you cannot even bring it up or you'll be sued.

@Jennifer Pauyo In addition to being a Realtor and general contractor, I've been a member of BP since 2009. I was also the first female chosen to moderate!
However; there have always been alot of great women on the site, in all trades, professions, etc. , offering up great advice, and sharing our experiences. I think @Ann Bellamy and others were here before me.

@Domonick Dangerfield what price range? What's layout? A waterproof textured laminate is nice in common areas, and carpet bedrooms. If you like wood, look at engineered hardwood.

@Ted Klein if you were to only lease to married couples in CA half the units would probably be vacant. But, as I mentioned we can't even ask the question, and it makes no difference. Asking such questions opens up a huge can of worms.

@Dillon Dale Marital status is NOT a protected federal class. Though 26 states have various protections.

Post: Water leak from meter to house. Does owner or tenant pay?

@Robert Kough no really it's not. A tenant has no idea what the bill should be. Each tenant uses showers, dishwashers, laundry specific to their use. How would she have a baseline to go off of? Stop being irresponsible, pay the bill, or you may end up in small claims court where you will lose.

@Robert Kough 100% wrong. It's not her job to detect a water leak. She didn't cause it, it's your responsibility. Sorry, it's called home ownership.
