Best thing you can do is network and educate yourself as much as possible. Books, YT, podcasts, talk to investors, meet up with them and just absorb as much as you can.
Depending on your goals, I recommend shadowing or providing value to someone that is doing something you want to do. Trying to learn how to fix a house, work under a handyman/contractor on the weekends for minimum wage or free even for a couple times and build that skill. Be an assistant to a flipper and learn the ins and outs of it etc
You can also just throw yourself in and start learning by doing. Hope that helps.

@Griffin Brenseke would love to touch base with you in regards to airbnb in Tampa. I also have friends in st Pete, maybe they would be willing to help out if it's something small.
In general, the easiest way is to find a handyman, property manager or someone local that you have a connection to.
Another route would be to use apps like task rabbit, thumbtack, etc.

Agreed with @Will McClure. First thing is to verify regulations, if that checks out and you apply for the permit or business license (assuming they have a system for that), you can just go ahead and start to setup your airbnb profile and list your home.
I do advise calling your insurance and seeing if they have an add-on or separate policy for less than 7 day stays as many do not. You can use proper insurance, they insure STR.

@Ashley Byington there are none in Margaritaville but some communities are 55+ and older. The faqs are also online: https://margaritavillevillasor...
@Nancy Bender thanks for posting this, was wondering more about that community and this thread helped clarify some things. Good luck in April, it's quickly approaching and would love to hear how you do! Excited for you!
