@Anthony B. Thanks for reaching out. I understand that it is a business. But I will still get to live my life how I want and run my business how I want. I won't be restricted to timelines and tasks from my boss, and I will have more time to work on myself. I will definitely reach out when I am ready to buy my first MFH in Tallahasse. Talk to ya soon.

I live in Southern California and am moving to Tallahassee next summer. I am finally closing on my first rental property in North Little Rock this week. I have heard time and time again that it is wise to have a good CPA on your team, even when you are starting out. I plan to grow my portfolio in the future and will need to find a competent CPA who knows about real estate, how it works, and the tax situations involved with it. Does any have any recommendations for a good CPA who is willing to work with someone out of state? I also have a list of questions to vet CPAs, does anyone have any other good questions that I should ask when looking for a good CPA?

Welcome to BP, just wanted to reach out like the other members did for me when I introduced myself. Memphis is a pretty good market to invest in, and you have boots on the ground out there which should make investing out of state relatively easier. I am about to close on my first rental property which is turnkey in Little Rock. I bought turnkey to get my feet wet and boost my confidence in a way. Now that I know this is actually something I can do I am going to start looking for deals myself. Good luck to you in the future!

Oh okayyy. I knew the cubicle life wasn't for me, so I joined the military. But now I have no freedom, which is why I'm getting into real estate also. Great minds think alike!!

I am currently buying my first property (turnkey) in Little Rock. Of course I am paying a little more, and the Cash on Cash ROI isn't the best, but I am using this to get my foot in the door. It is helping me learn what really goes on behind the scenes and how your 'team' works together. From this point forward I plan on doing everything myself (using a realtor, making an offer, conducting rehab, etc). This property gave me the confidence to know that this is something I am capable of doing.

My name is Yusef Griffin, I am a 25 year old Marine Corps Officer currently stationed in Camp Pendleton, California. I knew I wanted to get into real estate since I was in college, but I never really looked into it because I didn't know where to start and I thought you needed loads of cash. A little over a year ago, one of my Marines introduced me to a local real estate investment group, I began to attend the monthly meetings and learned A LOT about real estate. I read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and it completely changed my mindset, that book has helped me learn that it is possible for anyone to earn passive income and travel the world (my calling in life). I've been to the Bigger Pockets website in the past, but I didn't really take the time to view the content on the website. I am currently in the process purchasing my first SFH investment property in North Little Rock, AR and it has resulted in me trying to learn even more because now it is actually happening. I have learned more about real estate in this past month than I have in the past year reading books. I stumbled on the second podcast with Grant Cardone during one of my research sessions, and I was blown away with how much I learned. I went through the Bigger Pockets website more in depth and started to listen to the podcasts from the beginning (currently on number 39). I am grateful for all of the content, discussions, and tools this website provides. I am glad to now be apart of the Bigger Pockets community and am excited to see what the future has in store.
