I look at it this way.. you have 2 distinct things going on here.. you have those that have a different chosen field / JOB  other than anything to do with real estate but feel rentals or some type of cash flow real estate is their goal to become independent of owning their own business or working for someone else..

I always try to work with what I have first before I think about painting brick, and a lot of the time it's not the brick that's objectionable but the colors that were chosen to go along with the brick (like in this post).

This year we included some goals/plans for our primary residence (turn basement into apartment, rebuild decks, design and build front porch), some personal goals (establish and maintain a healthy eating plan, go to the gym at least twice per week, read and discuss 6 books, one book is to be chosen by our partner), and business goals (find an accountant, analyze present loans and refinance if it makes sense, add 20 doors to our portfolio).
