@Elizabeth O. We are way late to the game for the 2017 request here but if he ever runs again we own a rental that is ideal for the Ironman competition 1/4 mile from the Olympic oval in Lake Placid. 3 bed/2 bath.

@Pratik Singhi I own a property in Lake Placid that we use as a vacation rental and it has done pretty well. Just like in NYC you have to watch and now community regulations on STR's. Local officials are pushing for some new guidelines on STR's and have a public hearing scheduled for end of the month to discuss the new legislation.

@Erin Mullaney there is also a show on Netflix (of course the name escapes me right now) with Genevieve Gorder from HGTV that I thought was pretty good. Certainly found some good ideas for our STR in Lake Placid.

@Marcus Mitchell try some of the local community banks for the residential mortgage in an LLC. If they portfolio the loans they may offer that option. I work for a bank upstate and I know of a few here that do it but it must be within our footprint to consider. The big national and regional banks do not offer this. Credit Unions May also be an option.

All that said, I completely agree with @Richard Sherman. You do not need the LLC. Good insurance will cover your interests.

@Stuart Goodman, I would find another bank/banker. Not every bank underwrites it that way. Full disclosure, I’m a banker by day and real estate investor by night.

Kirk, it has been quiet for a while but there are tons of forums on short term rentals. Best of luck finding someone for your needs.

Ok, sounds like it’s time for another get together in Albany. My schedule is pretty crazy the next couple of weeks but maybe the week after Thanksgiving or first week in December?

I have been using Dwolla as my website to pay my private mortgage investors and they are changing their platform and I am no longer going to be able to use them. I am looking for suggestions to other options to automate without crazy high fees.
