Is there a way to find blueprints to a property you bought? I bought a SFR in December, and there are some things that seem a little odd as we get into it... For instance, the way the roof line looks, and how much roof there actually is, it looks like it could've been a 2 story house at one time. As of now, it is only one story. Would just be cool to find out, not sure who I'd start with...... The assessor?

Some background..... This house was a foreclosure I got for $37,000. 3bed 1 bath, walkout basement, newer carpet and New windows! So I don't want to eat up my savings with contractors.....

I want to thank everyone for their advice!

@Bill Brandt. Well, my better half is a jack of all trades.... It might take longer, but I learn sonething new every weekend!

@Otis Sanders putting in a new bathtub and vanity. Also, putting in New kitchen cabinets.

@Bill Brandt oh, I agree! I'd rather pay more now and be covered... Can't get it done that soon... We have full time, night shift jobs an hour and 20 min away... We work on it when we can.... But I agree with your advice! Thanks!

@Paul Sandhu you have opened my eyes with your comments! Thank you!

I bought a duplex a year and a half ago. Bought a SFH in December. Put everything on one policy. My SFH needs some work done to it so it is vacant. When insurance company investigated and found it vacant, they wanted to cancel my insurance! Now my agent has written the policy for a vacant residence and my property insurance rose by several hundred dollars! Is this how it works???

@Alana Nevares. Living out of state, I would not put a washer and dryer in the property..... Just one more problem to come up.

@Joe Splitrock. Thank you! The biggest draw back I was having was sitting here thinking of all the time I would waste scanning one sheet physically, at a time!
