Wow, I'm just standing here amazed at how a simple question could turn into a giant conundrum.  Yes, if he gave you the lockbox code you should AT LEAST drive by the property.  By that, you should be able to tell if its a neighborhood you want to invest in or not.  Then if the coast is clear, park the car, get out and proceed to the lockbox.  I'll leave the rest up to you.  Godspeed.

Cheers!

Hey @Kirby Elliott thanks for the shoutout my friend.  Hi @Joe Levdansky.  I think we've met before.  I've emailed with your brother Tim, perhaps?

Hi Cameron, I use Facebook pretty extensively and would suggest following different Pittsburgh based organizations/magazines etc.  Pittsburgh magazine is one that comes off memory but I follow quite a few of them.  I also like to follow bikepgh because a lot of people enjoy the two wheelers and they are the big voice for the industry here.  So I like to think that where the bike lanes go, the popularity increases.  Or perhaps getting a neighborhood map and entering into the neighborhoods to explore might help. Or if you want a native yinzers take on all of em, hit me up.  I'll walk you through what I know of them.

Hope that helps a bit.  Feel free to add me on Facebook to see which groups I follow as well.

Hi Anthony,

My name is Chris Pasternak.  I grew up in West Mifflin and currently live in Homestead.  I'm very familiar with the south hills and have a couple rental properties in the area myself.  House hacking should be a mandatory course in all public schools nowadays!  Anyways, feel free to reach out if you want to chat sometime.

Cheers

Owning a house/multi-unit and having other people live with you to pay your bills.

Depending on your location and/or work team you could house hack while you're in town for those years as well, ultimately leaving you with minimal, if any housing expenses.

I found this to be possible in my personal residence and its a single family.
