I'm moving towards starting my business as a real estate redeveloper. For my projects, I would like to tell my GC what types of things I'd like installed like a beautifully designed double vanity sink I found at Lowe's. I want to store this info in a program. I was going to use Excel, but I can't seem to enter a picture into a single cell, and I'd really need to see a picture of the things I'm deciding on without having to open a browser.

Is there any type of program out there that can handle this, like inventory software, or something geared towards contractors or materials management? I just want to add a picture, item name, price, SKU#, and a link or store location where it can be purchased. I need to be able to see the pictures of the items without hassle at first glance, though. Thanks!

Hey @Chris Graham. I'm not sure if you've picked something else or not, but Google Voice isn't going anywhere. Way too many people love and use this, and Google even sort of upgraded that service into a fully fledged MVNO cell service called Project Fi, using Sprint and T-Mobile's networks.

I've been using GV for some years now and low it, although recently they've integrated it into Google Hangouts. I love that as it's a one-stop shop for my messaging/calling needs. It's a great service, and probably the best free option out there to get an actual phone number you can forward to any phone, or multiple phones at once, including calls through Gmail and the Hangouts extensions/applications.

 I think Kevin is talking about what used to be called Google Places (I could be wrong though).  Google renamed it to "Google My Business"   Creating a Google my Business page is really good for SEO purposes and will put your business on Google Maps in your local area.  You do have to have an actual business address though.  They don't allow PO Boxes or Virtual Office addresses.

I agree with Scott. Creating a business page would be pretty good for SEO, but I also want to note that there's also a BiggerPockets community on Google+. In addition, follow a real estate investor that has been on the BP podcast several times, Sharon Vornholt. She posts some real estate info good info.

Well, this is a godsend lol. I was just recently looking into some real-estate specific CRMs and other database & project management systems to help my organize and execute on my projects. I found some cool ones, but nothing seems to be the perfect, do-it-all solution.

I was just thinking that I'd like to have a multi-database solution myself, and probably something that I'd need to create myself. I'd like to have a CRM portion for contacts, another database section for storing property information, and another database for materials. I like to pick out flooring, tiles, and appliances before I even rehab, and will just size my orders to my projects. Also, being about to link  all of these various pieces into individual projects with schedule/calendar and to-do lists w/ assignees would be my perfect solution.

Contact me for any additional info as I'm totally willing to pay good money for a such a custom solution.

Just create a personal account with minimum info.  follow the privacy tips like blocking your phone number etc.

 What he said, but you're not required to enter a phone number or address. I just created a page for my budding business, and had to learn some ins and outs on that. If it's better for you, just create the personal acct with a shortened name and the email for your business, keep it bare, then add all the additional details to your business page.

Hey Orlando. They quality of a market will vary from town to town, city to city, state to state. I agree with @Hattie on the differentiation of "markets". This is also good info for me since I also interested in fix & flips.

I think the best course of action is to network with a real estate agent who can give you much more detailed info an area that might be good to fix a house and sell it in, especially if you're thinking about flipping in an area outside of your local area. At least that's what I'm planning to do; working with 2 local agents at the moment, and plan to expand to Cali where a friend lives to partner with him in the future.

Welcome to BiggerPockets! Secondly, it's all about what exactly you'd like to do in real estate. There's many avenues to get into. Do you want to buy and hold? Flip houses? Wholesale? Get some rentals and be a landlord?

What I plan to do is save a little money and invest in stock options to grow that money a bit (just started and doing pretty good). This time next year, I plan to get a duplex to fix up, and start with the rental unit first, then do my area. I'll rent out the bigger space for higher rent since I'll move out in a year or two, and do the same thing again, but have a rental property with two units already under my belt. I also plan on getting an FHA loan since I can put down a low of 3.5%, and maybe see if they or another lender will also cover rehab costs.

I'm also interested in fixing and flipping, and hoping to start that within about 2 months. Just trying to decide on what I want to look for and how to build a team to help me (general contractor, an agent, some private money lenders, maybe some friends to help rehabbing, etc.)

About your finances, that's going to take some time, but don't let that hold you back from learning what you need to know to get started on your path. Boosting your credit score can take months or years, depending on its current state. I always suggest strategizing a course of action to take care of debts and stay on time with payments, keep any credit cards below 30%, and possibly get some secure loans or credit cards to help boost your credit as well. Outside of banks & credit unions, you still have hard money lenders who are willing to throw some money at a good investment opportunity.

I also suggest getting an Evernote or Trello account to start organizing your ideas about what you want to do with your potential real estate ventures.

@Rachelle R is correct. You're essentially going out and finding properties for investors, and they'll pay you a finder's fee. Usually around $500 or so.

If you want to get started with that, you should network with some investors either on here or find a local REI club and let them know that you'd like to help them find some lucrative properties. You're also going to want to know how to find the necessary information on those properties from the local property records.
