Being your own GC is a great idea if you are good at vetting our each phase of the project and you fully understand each step. I have done it a couple times and like like @Russell Gronsky pointed out you do need to start in the correct spot with each piece of the project. I found a property then started with the architect first each time.

Investment Info:

Single-family residence fix & flip investment in Phoenix.

Purchase price: $380,000
Cash invested: $225,000
Sale price: $649,000

3/2 property with pool and hot tub in back yard.
Complete top to bottom remodel including all new plumbing underground.
Property is now a 4/2 with all new floor,cabinets,paint, interior and exterior and AC along with duct work.

Make sure you purchase cabinets from a professional company and installer
