Congrats and welcome to BP.
I invested in Jacksonville last year and so far it's worked out well.
I'm currently out here in Korea and I have keyword alerts set up for Korea.
How long were you in Korea for? What area did you spend time in?
Nice to meet another investor who's lived out here.
I help run a meetup out here and we've been able to gather together quite a few members and connect with a lot of BP investors.
Best of luck with everything. Feel free to reach out anytime.

If your interested in real estate investing and you happen to live in Korea, you're in luck. The Seoul Real Estate Investing Meetup has over 320 members to help you network and get started in real estate investing.
If you're not sure how to invest overseas while living in Korea or you're curious about investing in Korea but aren't sure about how to, join us at our next meetup and talk to actual investors who buy are buying in the US, Korea and elsewhere (see below for all the places).
When: Saturday, October 17, 1-3pm in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea.
Where: Gangnam TOZ - Click here for Directions. (This meetup takes place in Seoul, South Korea - scroll to the bottom to see a bottom)
And you won't want to miss this Oct 17 Meetup as we welcome one of the biggest names on BiggerPockets, @Ben Leybovich
Ben Leybovich needs no introduction to BiggerPockets members. He's a three time podcast guests and the creator of Cash. He's also been featured on the Cardone Zone (where he explained to Grant Cardone why he was WRONG about real estate), as well as Huff Post and numerous other publications.
I first became aware of Ben through his infamous post on Why You Shouldn't Buy $30,000 Pigs here on BiggerPockets (which has garnered over 188 comments to date) and I've been following him ever since.
Ben joins our growing list of virtual speakers that includes:
In addition to Ben, we'll also be going back in our time machine to discuss what happened when I saw this house in Jacksonville, Florida, for sale for $67,500.
We'll walk through a detailed analysis of the pros / cons in buying and what ended up happening.
We'll also talk Korean real estate as our Research Analyst, Ingue, talks about some of his recent market trends he sees happening across Korea.
(Beverages are free!)
There will be a 10,000 W door charge to help us cover some of the costs associated with our meetup. (If you RSVP by Oct 15, that fee will be 6,000 W)

Thanks Dustin!
Appreciate the insights.
What do you think the average local resident could afford to pay in rent (range)?
And what are the main employers of the local residents?
I've looked online for this info but if you have some thoughts, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks again!

When I worked in Korea I lived in Okpo which is about an hour south of Busan on Geoje Island. I had a blast there and miss the food. What I wouldn't give for a good Korean BBQ...lol.
As far as my investing goes I think I'm in the learning phase right now. I am going to soak up the wealth of knowledge from this site as well as the vast amount of experienced members. I'm still hashing out my plan of attack, but after the turn of the year I will definitely be looking to make some moves.
thanks,
Ronald "RJ" Russell
Good plan. I took about 3-4 months to just learn and network.
The combination of both really helped me advance my experience and knowledge.
As I gained more knowledge, I look for ways to be of value by combining my business experiences and real estate knowledge to help other investors. It helped me build stronger connections and also land partnerships.
I know a lot of people are looking for mentors - I was too. But then I figured out ways to do work that people needed and I was able to gain access and partnerships that way.
Turns out to be as good as mentorship ^^
Reach out anytime.
Best of luck on your journey! I think you're well on your way with this outpouring of support from the BP community. I think I had quite a few less responses to my intro in the beginning LOL!

Hi Ronald! Welcome to BP.
I got 'dinged' because of the "Korea" reference. ^^ I'm out here now - I'm an organizer for the Seoul Real Estate Investing Meetup.
Where were you staying when you were out here?
Nice to see fellow "Korea alumni" on BP. Too bad you're not still out here - it would be great to have other active BP members as part of our meetup - we have quite a few already.
(Plus we're getting @Ben Leybovich to speak at our next meetup ^^)
If you decide to invest out of state - I wrote an article about how I was able to do that while living in Korea (for the BP Members Blog - Investing out of state.)
Anyways feel free to reach out anytime and good luck with everything!

Karon Beach! My real estate partner is there right now on his honeymoon, @Benjamin Hauser
I loved it there, too. Stayed at the Hyatt or Hilton there. Amazing how they managed to keep the mosquitos at bay.
Now I usually stay in Patang.. Noisy but close to the mall which the kids like ^^
Hope you had (are having) a wonderful time!

Awesome technologically advanced city.
Great places to eat. Growing foreign entrepreneurial community.
I don't have room for you at my place, unfortunately.... But if you can find a place on Airbnb, I'm sure you'll have a great time (& meet some awesome people)!
