Planning to watch Jimmy Fallon tomorrow night?

I'll give you a quick synopsis: He's going to sing random songs, a celebrity will too, and then a few funny jokes may ensue.

Now how's that going to advance your burgeoning real estate investing career??

I have an alternative for you - Watch @Ben Leybovich as you've never seen him before!

8 Feet Tall and 3 Feet Wide as he appears on our Large Projection Screen Monitor as The Seoul Real Estate Investing Meetup's Virtual Speaker on Oct 17, 1-3pm.

Our meetups are in Seoul so most of the BP members can't join us.

So we're going to Periscope our meetup for the first time.

If you're not sure what Periscope is, just imagine - Youtube Live Streaming

You'll have to download the Periscope app and search for the "Seoul REI Meetup."

We'll also be tweeting a link, so you can follow us at: https://twitter.com/seoulreimeetup

Broadcast times

Korea: Oct 17, 1:30pm

PST: Oct 17, 9:30pm

EST: Oct 18, 12:30am

If you're a fan of BP, you know Ben Leybovich is straight shooter who doesn't hold back on his opinions. Imagine what he like at 12:30am, sleep deprived.. Should I be worried as the interviewer?? Do I need to have the censor button ready?? ^^

I kid, of course! ^^ But it should be great fun and we'd love to have our BP members jump on and show us some LOVE by participating in our first broadcast.

(Even if you're not that interested in watching Ben Leybovich LIVE, I'd still suggest you download the Periscope app and start playing around with it. It's gathering steam as the next 'thing' in social media marketing.)

For those of you who can join us live and in person -

To RSVP: Saturday, October 17, 1-3pm in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea.

Where: Gangnam TOZ - Click here for Directions. (This meetup takes place in Seoul, South Korea - scroll to the bottom to see a bottom)

We'll also be presenting our analysis of some areas in Hongdae that we've been researching as potential investment.

And we'll be discussing the Jacksonville, Florida market and what happened to this house which I had considered buying with my REI partners last year:

(not inserting photo at the moment - I'll comment and post)

As a fellow overseas investor, I look forward to the post. I help run a meetup of foreigners who live abroad and invest in the U.S., Korea, & other places in the world. @Josh McCullough

Thanks for the insights.

I'm also looking into the 21st Century CASH Program as a way to bring on homes. ^^

Nice win!

How much work was the property management? Was this close to where you live or were you doing this at a distance?

Thanks for sharing ^^

It was about 2 hours from my house, and management is a breeze.  I have 11 more homes in this park, and have a trusted maintenance man who does all of the hard work.

Cool!

So you're a Lonnie Dealer? What area are you focused on? Just wondering because I'm looking at parks now, and of course, wondering how I might fill vacancies ^^

@Kenneth LaVoie

Hi Kenneth. Thanks for the kind words. We do put a lot of effort into trying to push out great content for our members. We have @Ben Leybovich as our guest speaker this month so we're pretty excited about that.

I read the Kindle Sample of your book - Real Estate Rebel. Nice title and the story flows well. I'll have to put it on my reading list.

I'll be a bit busy this week but if you can send me an email when you get a chance and we can talk about the questions you mentioned. I have a few speakers that are in the mix coming up so I'm trying to get a better sense for what our membership is interested in hearing about.

I think for sure, though, that your story that you outlined in your book would be very interesting to our members.

Thanks again for reaching out! I look forward to continuing the conversation ^^

@Kenneth LaVoie

I help organize a meetup out here in Korea.

We help connect investors with opportunities, in addition to providing education and networking.

If you're interested in speaking to the group and talking about your experiences as an investor, then you might naturally get some inquiries from people in our group who are interested in what your company does.

As overseas investors, it does take a lot of time to build that relationship and helping to educate first, is a good way to start. ^^

The problem won't be age - the problem will be lack of experience, knowledge and credibility. Most people at 19 don't have those.

You can combat that by doing one simple thing: Delivering value to others.

When I got started, I had the opposite problem - I was much older than the average person starting out. Over 40. With no real estate experience.

That's also an uncomfortable place to be in - being older with no experience in a field that you want to make your career. You think there are a lot of intern opportunities for 40 year olds? ^^

But what I learned is this - if you can deliver value, then you will be given opportunities.

I helped organize a Meetup. I didn't even want to talk at the first one because I felt like I had too little experience. But soon, we had grown our meetup to plus 300 people and I was seen as both a leader and connector in the real estate space.

Not only was able to deliver value to my community, I was able to gain access to experienced investors. I could now reach out to them and have conversations more easily because of the value I could bring them - access to my meetup members.

In the meetup, there were other experienced investors. Of course, as one of the main organizers making it easier for them to network and learn, I became a valuable commodity to them as well. I grew trust among my members and now it would be easy for me to reach out to any if I had any investing problems I wanted to discuss.

I also grew my own knowledge of real estate through reading and networking. I learned periphery skills that I knew would be helpful to real estate investors - internet marketing and SEO keywords (through UDEMY is easy and affordable).

I was able to package those skills to other investors and worked my way into equity deals by simply providing value that they needed - development of their business systems, internet marketing expertise, knowledgeable networks and due diligence ability (analysis and research).

So, it's not a question of age - it wasn't for me either. I was asking the wrong question.

The right question was this - how can I bring value, regardless of age, to others?

If you know that, then you'll be on the right track.

Practical Steps

1. Start a meetup. Be the organizer. If you're not sure how to run one, go to a few others to learn how. Now you'll have leadership on your resume and that will balance out the age.

2. Join another meetup / association and volunteer to be on a committee. Again, demonstrate some leadership and initiative.

3. Keep networking and reaching out. Just keep in mind this - how can I deliver value? How can I help this person I"m reaching out to? If you're not sure, you can also ask. For some, just your youth and enthusiasm will be valuable and they might want to help you out simply because of that.

4. I've worked with wholesalers before - I don't care about age - just how good the deal is. So make sure you know what a good deal is and if you're unsure, see numbers 1-3 and start building those networks of people who will help you grow.

So in answer to your question: Will age be an issue?

Answer: Depends - What value can you deliver to others?

Best of luck!
