E-Mails? I imagine I'm in the minority here, but I don't want more e-mails. If something is important, I'd like for it to pop up in my dashboard.

Separately, I'd like to be able to e-mail or PM people. Maybe I need to upgrade my account for that? I sent someone a little while ago and received no info that it was sent, so I guess I'll wait. On BP, like on any other forum, I really just want basic features to work (and BP is pretty good at making sure they do).

Just my .02.

Best,

E

Hi All!

I'm looking at a property in Hialeah, FL that I'm seriously considering. Here's the problem: in order to close the deal, I'll probably need to borrow about 40K against my 403b. I think that if I close that deal, I can then refinance the entire thing through a local FL bank to get my 403b money back. My question then is: does anyone have suggestions for small FL-based banks that I should call for their consideration? I don't mind calling a dozen banks if I receive a dozen suggestions-I can do that leg work. I'm just looking for a starting place. I'd welcome any bank suggestions or even general comments on my situation.

Hope you all have a great New Year!

Regards,

I don't mean to sound flippant, but it sounds like you're trying to sprint through a marathon. Take your time. Read the FAQs available here on BiggerPockets, or buy yourself a copy of The Book on Rental Property Investing. Investing time is at least as important as investing money here, maybe more so. Good luck!

I have two questions/thoughts on this. 1. I wonder whether a Rep controlled gov't will eliminate support/control over Freddie Mae & Fannie Mac. If so, the secondary market might suffer (Forbes stated the 30 year mortgage could disappear, although I find that doubtful). 2. I suspect some of the post-crash lending restrictions might ease up. We'll see how/if that happens.

Do you know when it was built? I live in a house built in 1932 and one thing I always tell people is to scrutinize the electrical system in old houses. Eventually my home will need to be rewired and estimates I've received are between 25-30k. So look check out that electrical panel and make sure to have a good, experienced inspector confirm what your friend told you. Don't be caught unawares. Best, E
Great information. Thanks! I've been interested in investing outside my Washington, DC area and this sort of reinforces my thoughts. Need to build bridges & contacts though.
I didn't realize there was an app. Using it now & digging it!
