Hey @Christopher Rugile ~ Where are you stationed right now?  I'm on active duty myself and currently stationed in the UK. I did own some buy and hold properties before being stationed overseas. However, since moving here I have started both BRRRRing and working with a team to acquire 100+ unit multifamily in a different market than my previous buy and holds. I'd be happy to connect, discuss your situation, and share my experiences if it is helpful for you.

Cheers,
Marcus

@Malik Jones Depending on what you are watching and reading, you will likely have noticed that there are a number of different strategies in real estate. I think it is important for you to know what you are trying to achieve as well as how your skillset and what you enjoy doing might align with certain strategies better than others. Feel free to drop me a message if you want to connect and we can talk through some different aspects of strategies to help you narrow down which one(s) might be most suitable for you.

Cheers,
Marcus

@Steven Gray Welcome and congrats on jumping in here to take action. I am active duty military myself and just wanted to comment on the statement: "My original plan was to buy a home every time I move and rent the previous homes out". I think that many of us in the military that invest in real estate probably had that philosophy at some point in time. However, I'd encourage you to make sure that you do a proper analysis on the properties as a rental before you purchase them to live in if your plan is to eventually rent them out. Depending on where you are stationed and the market there, it can be challenging (not impossible) to find properties that make a good investment. You may find that investing in a different market than where you are actually stationed or living makes more sense sometimes. Best wishes and don't hesitate to let me know if there is any way I can help.

Cheers,
Marcus

Hey @Jake Howard, I am active duty U.S. military currently stationed in the UK (near Cheltenham). Because I am a U.S. citizen, I'm not necessarily familiar with all of the challenges / processes for you to invest in the U.S., but let me know if I can help for any general questions about investing in the U.S. while living overseas.

Cheers,
Marcus

@Josh Banwart As @David Pere mentioned, I'm currently stationed in England and investing in the states via multiple different strategies, so I would love to hop on a call and talk to you about it if you'd like. While I would love to take credit for the great guest blog post that he mentioned, I think he is referring to the one our Air Force brother @Michael Barnhart, who is also here in England, wrote. We have some mutual connections that live in Germany that invest in both Germany and in the U.S. as well, so I would be happy to introduce you to them also.

Let me know if you want to connect and how I can help!

Cheers,
Marcus

Hey, Cody ~

I've been on active duty with security clearance for over 19 years and have owned rental properties for about 15 of those. In general, if you are starting out without any preexisting credit issues, make sound financial decisions and run your rental properties like a business, I don't think that you will experience any problems with your clearance.

If you have any preexisting credit issues or make poor/risky investment decisions, that could be different.

Bottom Line: If you are starting with a good credit foundation and make sound financial decisions it should not be a problem. There are a lot of active duty with clearances that invest in real estate.

**This is not legal advice, but rather my own experience**

Cheers,
Marcus

@Stephen Richardson What are your goals? There is a ton of information available on different strategies, so clarifying that would help in focusing your attention and time.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Cheers,
Marcus
