@Rudy Nieves Being on the other end of my Navy career, I just wanted to say congrats on using your deployment time to read and get educated. It's great to see others starting their journey so early. Let me know if I can ever help!

Hey @Anthony Matus ~ I'm active duty myself, and while not a submarine officer, I spent about three years riding submarines. My brother was on subs for about 10 years as well. I don't know the exact timings of your bonuses, but given how busy submarine life can be, one thing you might consider as part of your strategy is to invest some of your bonuses into Limited Partner positions in syndications. It requires some work up front to identify and build a relationship with the right team(s) that you trust and want to invest with, but can be very passive investments.
That isn't to suggest avoiding any other strategies, but depending on where you are in your career and knowing the optempo of submarine life, it might be worth considering incorporating into your overall plan.
Let me know if there is anyway that I can help!
Cheers,
Marcus

@Kristopher Kelly The key is that I haven't done it alone! It takes a team. Many people have helped me on my journey, so I'm happy to give however I can as well. I look forward to talking soon!

Marcus

@Kristopher Kelly Some great advice from all the guys above. I've been in the UK for two years and in that time have bought a single family buy and hold, wrapping up a BRRRR where I am turning a SFH into a triplex, been a private lender on 10+ flips, invested as a limited partner in syndications on 270+ units, and recently closed on 100 units as a GP on a syndication. I've done more in the last two years than I did in the previous 15. I say that not highlight what I have done, but rather to encourage you not to let the potential of being overseas stop you. I attribute much of that to joining a mastermind and beginning to invest more in networking and building relationships. That is what also opened my eyes to new strategies then what I was previously investing in. Don't hesitate to reach out if I can help you in any way.
Cheers,
Marcus

@Tyler Exum Welcome! If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out @David Pere's From Military to Millionaire Facebook group as well as another resource to grow your network and communicate with other military members that are investing.

@Daniel Greenwood If you want to drop me a DM, I can connect you with a couple of other military guys in Hawaii that I think can give you some information on some meet-ups out there.

@Matt Teegarden I second @Doug Spence's recommendation on the War Room. I've been a part since it started and it's been a game changer over the last couple of years. I am currently stationed in the UK and have invested in single-family buy and holds, a pretty major BRRRR, private lending, and both as a LP & GP in synidcations while stationed here. Let me know if you ever want to talk about investing from overseas (or anything else for that matter).
Cheers,
Marcus

Hey @Daniel Farias ~ I'm on active duty, currently stationed in the UK, and investing in the U.S. Because I'm in the military, I probably haven't dealt with all of your concerns directly (e.g. visas), but send me a message and I can probably connect you with a couple of non-military U.S. citizens that live over here and invest in the U.S.

Hey @Phillip Webb ~ I'm not sure what groups you are already in, but if you are looking for opportunities to connect with other military members that are in this space, in addition to the many here on BP, check out @David Pere's From Military to Millionaire. He and @Stuart Grazier also lead the War Room Mastermind for active duty and veterans. There are many of our brothers and sisters in these groups that have experience in multi-family and many that have impacted my own journey.
