Hadn't thought of the woodwork. I think that, ASAP, I'll have the textured ceiling taken down and the room painted with Kilz.
I do think my respiratory and a few other problems are associated with the chemicals/odors.
Thanks.

Where do we keep the propane tanks to cook the food? In the garage, the yard, the basement, where is it safe to store it?

Iowa Guard ends urban war exercise amid outcry
The Iowa Army National Guard has dropped plans for urban warfare training in the western Iowa town of Arcadia after being deluged by nearly 100 e-mails and phone calls from gun-rights advocates nationwide.
The four-day event in April would have involved between 90 and 100 combat troops arriving in the Carroll County community in a convoy with a Blackhawk military helicopter flying overhead.
Troops would have gone door to door, asking the town's 443 residents about a suspected arms dealer and conducting searches of homes if property owners volunteered in advance to cooperate.
There was no opposition to the Guard's plans from city leaders. But gun-rights advocates were outraged, and news...

Thanks. The Coil was cleaned, and the furnace thingy has been removed and cleaned. Ducts? These are the round, coiled soft ducts. I'd love to replace them with hard ones, but that isn't gonna happen! I've been keeping windows and doors open as much as possible (will be 90 today, 72 now, at 10:15 AM.) That seems to help, or, maybe I'm getting used to it. It's not AS noticeable. Thing is, as long as the chemicals are there, it does affect me-I'm disabled by multiple chemical sensitivity.

The house next to my new one was ionhabited a few months ago. The time I was moving in, those folks were moving out. I haven't seen anyone there since. I looked up the owner, the records say the owner lives there. I was going to write to let him know it's empty, but I have no way to do that. It is for sale, but no sign on it. The tenants left a hose on the yard, I saw this morning it's gone. The front drapes look somewhat different. I haven't seen anyone, no lights, no movement, no noise.
I don't know what my next steps should be, if any.
any suggestions? I'd hate to have squatters move in, or vandals.

I also just discovered that mail (read bills) haven't been forwarded to me since I took over the house. I do admit it was my fault, I did think I called the utilities and changed the address, but apparently not one of them the PM CO did NOT forward the bills they got, or even bother to call me and let me know they were still getting them.
The book-keeper was with the original owner, I've worked with her for years. I am amazed and disappointed she did not bother to let me know that. I'm just lucky I happened to be home when the fellow came to shut off the gas. I've ALWAYS kept my bills paid 2-3 months in advance in case of emergency. Now I'm really glad. The co has those records, and it helped.

Fully tiled with 18" tile that has been washed with vinegar water, MOST of the grout scrubbed with vinegar water, some of it win original Dawn included. A friend was in it tonight for a while, said he couldn't smell cigarette smoke.
I can. I wonder how to determing the air quality. I think I'll see if I can find out anything about that. I don't think it's my imagination.
Thanks, Ofgift
My accounts are also with BOA. A week ago, when I had 3 repair people here,
One of the men was from the furnace co, the other two from Cox Cable, installing the service. I had planned to pay the furnace man with a check, and the book was on the kitchen table, in my full view most of the time, but he didn't have a ticket, so they would bill me. I thought I picked up the checkbook and put it away, but I haven't been able to find it since.
I called BOA to find out how to protect myself. The clerk suggested freezing the account, as I did not want to close it. Yesterday I called to change my password. I also asked what the balance was in the frozen account, the woman said it was a negative over 850 million dollars.
The actual amount should be about a thousand. After your story, MikeOH, should be worried enough to close all my BOA accounts and go to a credit union?
