Great to hear that Mark, what area did you end up targeting?

Hello Bigger Pockets Community,

My name is Andrew and I have been investing in Columbus, OH for around 5 years ever since I graduated college. I have been pretty stagnant the past couple years and I am ready to ramp it up. I currently own 11 SFR's in a C- to D+ (up for debate) area and am looking to get into C - B areas. My plan for 2017 is to obtain 10 more SFR's and possibly a couple flips here and there.

I work a solid 9-5 (more like 7-6) job and also have my real estate license, however, I don't actively buy/sell real estate. I am positioned pretty well financially and I am ready to go! I'd like to network with anyone interested, with the intent to strike a positive business relationship for both of us and to learn whatever I can. I have some knowledge of real estate investing but still have a lot to learn.

I appreciate any replies (wholesalers, investors, agents, etc.) and look forward to meeting you.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, what areas are your C and D properties in Columbus? We've had a few people debating buying in these areas because of how competitive some other target areas have been and would love to get your feedback on these areas. @Michael Hamby and I both are on a real estate team here and would love to chat over coffee or over the phone and see if there is any way we could work together in 2017. Our team is hoping to sell 125 homes / investment properties this year.

My name is Ben Alesi and I am a recent graduate of Ohio State University. I graduated from the Fisher College of Business with a B.S. in Corporate Finance. I currently work for Cardinal Health out in the Bay Area and am looking to pursue Real Estate investing.

I actually stumbled upon BiggerPockets looking to find some avenue to begin learning more about real estate investing and it has been a tremendous resource!

Outside of work, I really enjoy travelling to new places. In 2016, I was fortunate enough to travel to 5 different countries with my best friend and it was a great experience. I look forward to planning another trip this year outside the US. Open to recommendations!

Looking forward to getting more involved on the site and continuing to learn from all the successful people contributing on this forum.

Welcome Ben Alesi! If you ever want to go on a out of state vacation let me know! I also attended Ohio State University in Columbus . Biggerpockets is a great resource and there are so many great people to meet with. We've been meeting with at least one person per week from biggerpockets locally and it's amazing what this site can do to build your network. If you ever find yourself in Columbus, would love grab a cup of coffee and learn about what kind of investing you are interested in!

Mike, that's great to hear! @Michael Hamby and I are both members and frequently attend meetings. So are a lot of other biggerpockets members. I wish there was more time for networking but I use breaks, time before, and time after to network with everyone. So many great connections there. I just sold a deal to someone I met there at an event that I broadcasted a property that we had for sale.

I appreciate it Brendan, I just try to give as much as possible for my knowledge. Hopefully you find a great deal through HUD!

We like the possibility for cash-flow properties and we like the Midwest. I was initially looking at Cleveland or Columbus. Both seem intriguing, but both are huge and might take a bit of time to get my mind around. So before I decided which one, I became distracted with this little group of markets in northeast Ohio...

Akron is smaller than Cleveland and bit farther south. Beyond that is Canton, which is smaller than Akron and a bit farther south. Finally you have Massillon which is a bit smaller still and a bit west of Canton. All seem to have similar price points for properties and I would assume the rents are similar.

Are there any investors involved in these markets who knows why I should choose one over the other two? Or why should I be in one these markets rather than Cleveland or Columbus which are bigger?

Mike

If you are still considering Columbus I'd love to be a resource here. Work with plenty of out of state investors. Everyone has their own strategy.

I'd look at BH&G or Key Realty. Both have plenty of agents that represent only their own interests on deals.

Hi Ryan, if you are looking for a few people you could reach out for funding I have a few some of our clients have looked at in Columbus. The rates and fees have held them back but when the deal is good enough it shouldn't be an issue. These guys see hundreds of deals and can almost give you a bootcamp on what's a good deal and what isn't a good deal when you submit a package to them. Please PM me if you'd like a few referrals. Hope this helps!
