Welcome Casey Nordendale to BP. You are on the right track with educating yourself and getting to the meetings. I'm new as well but the networking I'm doing now will pay off in the long run. Asheville is beautiful for sure. Yes the market is hot but inventory is low. That just means you just have to work some to find deals. There are deals everywhere you just have to look. Ever since I started looking into REI I can't drive by a neighborhood without at least one property catching my eye. Also networking is a great way to find properties as well. At just about every REI meeting I goto there is a pitch at the end for properties for sale. Some even turnkey with tenants in place. If you haven't got a property for yourself yet in Asheville you might want to consider what @brandon turner did to start out and buy a duplex live in one half and rent out the other. When in Charlotte I can help you find some meetings to goto if you would like. You can find most of them on meetup.com under real estate. Best of luck
