I buy power extensions that have USB outlets in them, but not really. How often do you travel and forget to pack a phone charger @Chatree C.? I guess it's nice, but then you need to keep inventory in case someone brings one home, gotta take care to replace, yada yada.
I find the less amenities I have, the less I have to keep inventory, the less I have to keep track and spend time and money on.

I like offering counter examples.
My short term rentals are geared towards corporate travelers, people who are coming in for work for a month or so. The only amenity they really want is a bed, stocked kitchen, fast internet, and maybe a TV.
I have no decor. Works great for me!

@Ori Skloot. Curious how much you priced it for per night?

I pieced together multiple veteran TaskRabbiters.
So... yes, I would, and a bunch of people do.

Yup, sucks. I have a few properties with multiple Comcast accounts too. Hard to manage.
Suck it up because they have a monopoly type deal!

I've heard that AirBnB can have a long turnaround, which would suck, but always curious to hear more.
As with others, I get a little more reassurance from having my own policy.

Anybody do this? Buy a home and put it under your own LLC and live in it?
Is this legal? Can write off expenses and do depreciation.

Personally wouldn't touch doing vacation rentals associated with properties that are under a HOA. Sounds like a recipe to get screwed when the HOA realizes and they don't like what you're doing.
Regardless, if you want to continue down the path, it would be pertinent to just go and tell your HOA what you're planning on doing, and see if they will be happy with it.

VRBO is bad, I've had nothing but bad experiences (albeit only two) from it.
For some reason reviewing isn't in the VRBO ecosystem culture, so it's hard to vet exactly who they are and if they're legit.
I had to file a claim because my first VRBO guest cancelled their credit card, which in turn had me return the money. It took three months to settle that dispute, and I came away with less money than the guest had paid me due to some fees...
