@Emily Horton it sounds as though I am in a very similar position to you. I am an engineer in my day job and a rental property investor. What type of engineering do you practice? My wife and I currently have two rental properties, one single family, and one multi-family house. We have just recently relocated to White Plains, NY and are renting our residence for the time being. We are also searching for a multi-family to house hack.
@Adam Cherko I like the idea of residing in several markets were you might like to invest, to really get to know your market. What region of Westchester Co. would you recommend for a multi-family property to househack? I checked out your profile and saw that you are a structural engineer, we have that in common. I am an Eagle Scout also. We should connect sometime.

Scott, congrats on the pending closing. How many units in your mixed-use property? Port Chester appeals to me as well. I am beginning to define my criteria, so I have not set one target area yet, but I will. Property taxes in certain parts of Westchester are indeed high.
I will review the posts by John Hickey, thanks.
Do you specialize in Real Estate transactions and closings or landlord tenant law?

@Ryan Bergeron I see you are leveraging your civil engineering background. Those are some pretty advanced project management tools you are referencing. I checked out your profile and I see that we have a lot in common. We both invest in real estate in Connecticut, and we are both civil engineers that work in the concrete repair + rehabilitation industry. We should chat sometime.

@Scott Schreiber thanks for starting this thread. I have an interest in properties in similar areas, but a different type of property. I would like to find a multi-family buy and hold, house hack ideally in Westchester County.
@Maria Ruff who is your typical client? Are you a real estate investor as well as an agent? If so, want type of properties do you own?

Thanks @Jay Bhatt for posting the REIA groups.
I am looking for a multi-family property, minimum four units in Tarrytown or Sleepy Hollow. Can anyone recommend a real estate agent or broker they have worked with? I am happy to work with a commercial broker for 5+ unit properties.

Hi Gus, I was interested in setting up a RUBS for a multi-family property I am purchasing. I am also curious to see if others recommend it. I am investing in Connecticut, and I am trying to figure out if RUBS are common here, or if it might discourage some potential tenants from renting from me.

Does anyone know if RUBS are common in Connecticut. I am in a similar situation as
@Erick Caffarello was a few months back. I am in the process of purchasing a multi-family home where the current owner pays all utilities. I would to set each unit on a RUB to make the cashflow more consistent but I am unaware if this is common in the area, Hamden, CT. I currently own a SFH near by and the tenant pays all utilities there.
Thanks,
Marc
