In Texas, if the loss is policy limits of the dwelling coverage, the insurance company pays full replacement cost and does not hold depreciation.

Well, not necessarily. It’s behind on payments. Does she have the money to get it out of foreclosure? Then dealing with an insurance claim to get enough money for either repairs or rebuild. Then the rebuild process... Then.. there is the probate to get the property put in her name. Depends on the heir and their financial situation and patience with it all.

@Sandeep Majumder I have extensive experience with insurance claims. First, stating a person wants to profit from insurance proceeds is fraud and a felony crime. But, most policies will state if the home is sold prior to any repairs, the insured is not entitled to receive full Replacement Cost Benefits. Again, they will not allow anyone to get paid insurance money and just keep the money. Foreclosure...in most cases, the mortgage company will have put their own insurance in place and have been adding it to the loan. Insurance proceeds will go toward the loan first and this is commonly stated in the mortgage paperwork. Probably best to get with the mortgage company first. Find out about insurance situation. And, expect the insurance money to go toward paying the deficit in loan money. Then, after this, if you can stop the foreclosure, you’ll need to deal with the probate issue. Good luck & hope you can weed through the web & make it happen!

@Nevan Martrich mentors seem to be on every corner. Do your research and tread lightly. There are good ones and ones who only hustle people out of their money.

@Austin Jacobsen there are companies who specialize in this area. I’ve lived full time in an rv & analyzed many options. You’re on to something big!

@Edi C. The range is very broad. Call around. Existing plans will be much more affordable. Check with the builders who are putting in the new structures and see who has their plans.

@Edi C. Tweeking plans will cost money. The weight bearing loads and calculations have been done on an existing plan. Any changes (unless it’s on a non-load bearing wall) will require the calculations to be redone.

An archietict would have experience in this area. They have completed engineering studies for the requirements of the structure and building codes. Many will have plans ready or you can create something custom

The data would be well received if the relevant info to the target audience is summarized in approx 2-3 pages. The other data may appeal to some, so having it there I guess is okay. But provide a summary at the beginning because I would imagine, as many stated, most are way to busy to read this much info and absorb it in relevance. It's put together very well and well organized. the graphs are helpful also.
