Too bad you didn't get a answer here. How did the process finish? What are your plans moving forward?

shameless bump. Any other tips for a foreign investor (trying) to obtain financing in US? Extremely appreciated. Thank you!

@Tristam Griffith thank you! PM sent.

@Sebastien Hitier It depends. I'm currently in the process of liquidating my stocks (... yes, I know), but depending on what the potential lender would be comfortable with I could make this work with a LTV at 40-50%. The rest I could bring in with cash to have skin in the game.

Additionally, if a deal at this size proves itself difficult I would be interested in doing a SFH with the same LTV to establish some roots in the US, before jumping on the multis.

In terms of rates anywhere between 4-9% would be of interest. Amortized over 25 - 30 years.

@Aaron Mercer not yet, but I think i'll have something going by the end of next week. Some potential brokers reached out when I posted this. We'll see. I'll let you know Aaron

@Stephanie Medellin thanks! I will start the hunt for a mortage broker in Ohio to get the financing needed.

Hi!

I'm looking to acquire a 3-5 unit multifamily property in Ohio by the end of this year. What i'm currently pondering thought is how i'd be able to acquire a loan as a non-us resident to even be able to get the property.

I have 30-50% of the purchasing cost, but i'd need to be able to leverage the equity in the property that i'm acquiring to make it worth it to invest overseas, and even make the deal possible.

My question is, does anyone know what the easiest/best route for a foregin investor to acquire a loan? The cost of the property would be somewhere around 130 - 180K, and as mentioned above I have 30-50% of that in cash, ready.

From what I have read and found out so far is that there are very split opinions on this. Some say it's impossible for a non-us resident to even qualify for a loan, others say it's not a issue. Any input on this from anyone who could point me in the right direction/shine some light on this would be extremely appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

Please do, would be very helpful. I have not yet targeted one property, but it's in the pricerange mentioned above.
