Hi @Cole Stumbough,
Congratulations on your first deal soon! I think that's an incredible strategy!
I've been a BP member for over a year now. The information here is unbeatable! We are outside Greensboro in Pleasant Garden. We're planning to buy our first "real" investment property after the summer. We've attended some of the local real estate investor association meetings. Have you been to any of them?
Take care and good luck!

@Mike Dunn, Thanks for taking the time to write about your experience - especially for the details. All of us have different backgrounds and will have different experiences on our first deal. It's nice to read how your first one went. My husband and I are planning to buy our first "real" investment property after the summer. I've been on BP for over a year learning all I can. We also have 3 kids, and I'm going to be the main breadwinner soon so my husband can start spending time in real estate investing. Good luck with your own home build. It's pretty smart to include a basement apartment in it.

Hi @Brandon Purdeu and @Kyle H.,
I'll be following you to see how things work out in this area of developing. My husband and I in the future plan to build modern, efficient SFH and multifamily housing. It will be probably be a few years though until we learn more and start with SFH flips, and buy and hold. Good luck to both of you.

Hi @Michael McCoy!
Welcome to the BP world! I've been a BP member for over a year, but we still haven't yet bought our first "real" investment property, but we're planning to after the summer. I live outside Greensboro. We have a great Real Estate Investment group, but I don't know about your area. You may want to do a Google search for groups, or put up a post and name the cities and towns because BP members may have them in their alerts and will see your post. They are a great way to meet local folks that know your market. Good luck on closing your first property!!

Hi Carolyn,
My husband and I are getting started too. I've been reading books and books, reading blog posts here on BP, and listening to almost all of the BP podcasts. There is such a wealth of knowledge here.
We've been going to some of the Triad REIA meetings. We're planning to become members soon. There is a monthly meeting this Thursday April 21. Your first meeting is free I think. Here's the link to their website:
We have met other investors, CPA's, insurance agents, and lawyers there. It is a good group.
They also have some weekly lunch meetings.
Good luck and hope to meet you sometime!

Hi Oscar,
We have been going to the Triad REIA meetings, and there are a lot of contacts there - investors, lawyers, CPA's, insurance agents, etc. Also, there is a Greensboro DealMakers session tonight, though they are usually on the first Tuesday of each month. There you can pitch your wholesale deals for free. Please let me know if you'd like more information about these and I'll send it to you.

Wow @Joel Florek! Thanks for sharing your incredible story! Congratulations on your effort, and your results so far. We're slowly but surely going to get there. It seems like when we have a clear goal in mind, somehow we achieve it!
